Monday July 29th 1935
Mr. Shelton terribly late this morning so so was I and was Bill was cross. Big flood at Lane and Logan. He went down at noon. I’m getting the knack of running that place by myself pretty well.
Took some glads to work. Yvonne and Apricot Glow are my favorites.
Wally had to work tonight so I read and took a bath.

Up early and off for Granville. Got to church just as sermon started. Rained while having Sunday School. Clyde Farry’s girl carload. (Bernard Brooks, Rosina, Harry Wordall) & us ate at Horns Hill Park- Newark- and did it rain. Boys got wet to save the food. Took Mary back to Granville and we came home. Stopped at Garden. Got about four dozen glads and one dozen corn. Took some glads to Mrs. Shelton and was the corn good.

Wally has a job!
He called about 4:30 with the good news. At Wilson’s Floral Shop as bookkeeper $13 to start. I met him at the streetcar and we rented bicycles and I learned to ride in gully back of Indianola Avenue. He starts to work tomorrow. We celebrated with a soda. Got some hose at Fashion 69 cents.
Wally called about 10:00 last night. Had been at Arabian Gardens about a job.

Payday but I was too late to get my check cashed so I have one thin dime between me and starvation.
Picked an assorted bouquet for my room tonight snapdragons, Larkspur, sweet peas, petunias, calliopsis.
I’m waiting for Walt to call. He was to get more dope about this room today. I’ve been figuring and I still think it would be fun.
He didn’t call. 9:45

Wednesday July 24th 1935
Wally down this evening and we walked over to Woodruff to see a room. At $5 a month I think I could have loads of fun.
Sat on the swing & sung. Everything from “A Quarter of Nine” to “Taps.”
Rained. A little cooler after all the heat. We walked down to Brosmer’s in the rain for a Coke and then ate peanuts on the way home.
