Monday February 18th
Adding in orders made a total of $23,000 for 4 day!
Stopped at “Long John Silver’s” for clams and took them to mothers to eat before going to Camera Club. Al Tozzer elected president in January beating out Barry. He showed his Mexico slides- very good. My slide of Squaw Valley through a rail fence won first place. First time I ever had a slide in first place.
Mary Page off this week. Moving from apartment across the street to the house they bought in Morrall. Gary Bigler working. He is rather slow but gets things done.
Albert family in to order spray, basket & garland.

Sunday February 17th
Lazy Day. Called Kathy. Hill Air Force Base friends visiting from Oregon.
Got my income tax stuff together. What with him early dividends and selling National City Bank stock looks like I’ll have an additional $1,500 in income tax + the $7,100 already paid.

Saturday February 16th
Checked Valentine week figures $5,000 more than last year. 4 day total $21,000 in sales. 1,650 orders filled. $5,000 flower purchases for $12,000 sales. $1,500 silk and dried arrangements. $5,500 planters and plants.
Made out Easter order and gave to Dave.
Opened mail (checks) and pulled Ledger cards.
Mary and Carl and Mary and Kenny picked me up at 4:15 to go to Worthington for dinner at The Forum. Carl drove. Beautiful sunset as we came out about 6.
Watching Olympics downhill skiing women’s.
Dail[sic] Dorman died in California and Stanley Stowe died at Marion Manor.
105th day for Americans held hostage in American Embassy in Tehran. President Tito of Yugoslavia at point of death. Laura asked to work 40 hours again since Jim was fired as Penney’s service manager. We’ll have Tuesday off.

Friday February 15th
So tired- & everyone working in slow motion. Very few mistakes to correct. Mostly ones that gave us wrong addresses.
Wedding appointment and then came home about 5, making a delivery near “Dead Cat Gulch” on my way home.
Watched the Olympics pair short ice skating. Heartbreaking to see Tai Babilonia and Randy Gardner withdraw when Randy injured his thigh muscle. Luge and bobsled look so dangerous.
Laura and I to Sutton and Lightners to look at gowns for their Bridal Show. 24 of them to design bokays [sic -bouquets] for.

Thursday February 14th
All four lines ringing constantly. Pat and Kass great suggesting people come in. And they did, standing in line clear to the workroom door. Kept things available to buy. Besides Jerry, Terry and Mark, Dave Knapp Dick Straub in for two deliveries and Kenny for one north to Morrall. Took an anthurium arrangement up for him to Mary after I finished. Last delivery left at four-thirty. Had wedding at Central Christian left at 6:00 and finished at 7:00. Jerry not back, but Terry waiting for him. Had call from Pat Neidig Realty- Rick Ernsberger(?) asking if Hemmerly’s would be for sale. Wealthy farmer wants to buy business for 4 sisters! I said yes at $225,000.
300 deliveries $5,200 receipts.

Wednesday February 13th
To WMRN for unveiling of Lady Justice Courthouse top statue. Rapidcam from Channel 10 TV there. Jay Howser, Judge Myers, Cliff Spohn and I talked. Introduced Mr. & Mrs. Neff who pledged $500 for restoration on Charlie Evers’ program if statue could be found. Back to the bedlam at shop. But everything going very well. Receipts $4,950 sales $5,200. Terry, Jerry, Dave Knapp and Mark delivering. News Life photographer in for photo with my honorary life membership in MCHS. And wieners, potato chips, celery, cookies and cake for supper at shop. Barry Baker in to help Terry get up deliveries after I routed and typed 6 ready for tomorrow. Home about 9 rest still had 75 orders to do. 235 deliveries $4,910 receipts

Tuesday February 12th
Bacon and scrambled eggs for breakfast but bacon a little off. I only ate it. In at 9:30 leaving David’s to pack come in later. Shop really humming. Patty Hurst Winn doing great job on phone. Gary Bigler doing most of the C&C work- slowly! Terry and Jerry Zacharias on deliveries.

Monday February 11th
David and family took off for Snow Trails to ski, Josh and Sarah both on slopes. Into work at 10. Pat and Gary both on job. WDIF in to interview me on what Valentine Day flowers are popular. H ome at 5:30 and had supper ready for Haldeman when they got back at 7:00. Didn’t go to travel series on Holland. Had popcorn.
Richard Carey called to say the statue is in his custody since Friday night. Two anonymous men brought it to him!

Sunday February 10th
Cooked barbecue country ribs & apple cobbler AM. David and family arrived about 3- Sarah and Josh both taller than at Christmas. Mary, Kenny and mother out at 4 and Mary and I tried cross country skiing while David cleared Pond for skating. Dr. Larry Yoder out to get Equisetum for botany classes and pollen pops like corn under microscope. Paris and Helen out. We played Boggle. David, Karen and I had board meeting.
Steve Staurt[sic] from WMRN called to see if MCHS would make donation to restore Lady Justice. Told him board must decide.

Saturday February 9th
Carroll Neidhart called to say that Lady Justice statue from top of Courthouse missing since the 1950s had surfaced and was in custody of a society member. All started on Charlie Ever’s program Saturday a.m. while I was gone. Offer of money to restore evidently brought it to light
Wedding appointment.
Laura called home suddenly. Found later than Mark & Reda throwing things!
