Friday July 23rd
Friday Elsie Snitzler at RC. She is indignant that MA Genealogy members do not volunteer at RC. I told her I was too. Since first of year I have been there 132 hours. MAGS people 33 hours! Mostly Mary Jo Baker and Elsie.
Got hanging file folders for Myers files- transferring into them is a job. Bob Simmons put the frames together for me. Cathy Bell called. They have bought a house and will vacate by September 30th.

Thursday July 22nd hottest day heat 95 in the heat index 107 2″ rain
To Noon Kiwanis to give talk on “How We Came to Be” introduced by Russ Howard- Jane and R. Carey came as R. Straub’s guests- Audience seemed enthralled. Sold 2 DBY- Gareth Higgins and Brent Harriman. To Mary’s and worked with her on computer. When Bob wiped out her hard drive he only reinstalled games. No word processing or Quicken programs. Her keyboard sticks and computer is very slow.
Called David after perusing “Planning Your Addition.” Told him about estimate and problems with Josh’s elevations. When Josh picked up DeLorean it only ran to Columbus and conked out. Had to be towed back to Byerly’s in Radnor. Can’t come up until middle of August- band jobs. Playing in Xenia Sunday brass band. May go down.

Do nothing day. Napped PM- Missed Jake Retterer when he brought me species tulip bulbs. Supper of melon and lasagna. I bought two trays and one would have been plenty.

Tuesday July 20th 88 degrees
In to Marion to get lasagna for picnic of MCHS board tonight at Terradise. Also got hanging file folders and rack for Resource Center and picked up table and coffee urn at HH. Got house cleaned some. Jane, Marguerite Fogle and Carol Ruben’s arrived at 5:30 and took over the kitchen. Richard Straub and Richard Carey set up tables and got chairs around- About 18 here. I read August 1981 Minutes last board meeting held here when we voted to accept the Boyd cottage for headquarters. Toured garden about 8 when it had cooled some.

Monday July 19th half inch rain about 6 p.m. Kathi’s 58th birthday
Don Kyle trimmed Indian Currant and seedling trees from path to “Secret Garden”- put together the bistro table and chairs (green plastic that looks like wrought iron). Finished setting out begonias in leucojum bed by river. And some clean up for tomorrow. 3 hours.
Mary brought first McMahon sweet corn for supper- cleaned up kitchen- Scott Crum brought estimate for remodeling TV room $25,929 but says it will take 3 months! I told him okay and he will bring contract this weekend.
Kathi called thrilled with $1,000 check I sent her for birthday. Bob’s taking her to dinner and got her roses last week.

Sunday July 18th 1999
Slept until 10. Watered raised Bed across the road with extended hose from shed. Also the hosta bed and pulled the grass. Drawings of elevation of new TV room from Josh on computer only half printed. Sent email back asking for a sketch like Ray made before house was built. Called a few of MCHS board about potluck Tuesday. Started taking Celebrex for arthritis and osteoporosis.

Saturday July 17th
No one into Research Center and I spent time trying to find marriage record in 1910 Marion Star for Dorothy Thew’s parents- no luck sent first family application with letter to her cousin Robert Thew who wants to apply for her.
To Wendy’s Junior Bacon Cheeseburger, salad and shake to Mary’s for supper.
Shopped at Meijer and got prescription for Celebrex $89! For 1 month supply.
Watched “Return of the Thin Man” on public TV. Reading Gene Logsdon books- got two more at Maloney’s “You Can Go Home Again” and “Contrary Farmers Invitation to Gardening.”

Call from Ron Ploetz wanting info on National Register nomination. None in MCHS file so I took mine in and made copies for MCHS and for Ron to apply for Carnegie Library and Trinity Baptist Church. Offered to help fill out but he wants Jack Somerlot to do it!
Elsie Snitzler helping at RC we decided to ask Marion Genealogical Society to move their first family files to RC to be more accessible. But still in locked files. Elsie has area never been plowed. Want to see it for prairie plants.
