Tuesday March 15 1938
Reading Dorthea Bramde’s “Wake Up & Live”*- It really has some workable ideas. I want to reread it again. Got a picture to give Rosina at the shower.
Have finished most of yellow dress tonight. Started it too in fact.
Bath & to bed.

Monday March 14 1938
Down on bus – and did it rain.
Finished redingate except handwork.
Willard called for suggestions for gift for BBB & Rosina. I didn’t know he was a good friend of theirs.

Sunday March 13 1938
SS – Still headachy. Grandma & whole family over to see house. Home & figured cost of window shades & curtain rods etc. Surely would love to have new sink in kitchen & a rearrangement. But impossible.
BBB & Rosina at BY (Leaderless until 7:00) Then down to BBB’s until 9:00. Listened to C. McCarthy etc. got bits of wedding news. Rosina is so secretive. Seems to resent anyone finding out the color of her dress- kind of furniture, etc. Huh? Home and to bed at 10:00.

Saturday March 12 1938
Up early to inspect the house before Walt went to work. Fought a headache all day.
Walt went to see Mr. Stafford at the Loan at 2:00 and called me about 2:30 to say he had paid $100 down- agreed to fix roof. We pay half furnish paper for 2 bedrooms. Fix furnace. Plaster upstairs over.
Decided to have a linen shower for Rosina Friday evening.
To bed rather early in deference to my headache.

Friday March 11 1938
At 4:40 Stan told me I needn’t work tomorrow. Finished report we had been working on at 5:00. But inasmuch as I placed it so it looked better & read more consistently than originally I had to type it over. Finished at 5:30. Ran for the bus. Had a milk shake in Delaware & walked home.
Was met with news of a house on Greenwood Street they had all been to see so Walt & I inspected it with a flashlight. Basement, furnace, fireplace, extended windows, bathroom, upstairs 2 bedrooms. But with the minimum that each implies. BBB over for the evening. Is he happy?

Thursday March 10 1938
I didn’t wear my ring today of course I realized I was doing it only to salve my hurt pride. So childish. Of course Stanley made a fuss over my not wearing it.
Stopped at Lazarus tonight for some pink & green broadcloth at 10¢ a yard.
Bridge party at Margaret Ferguson’s. Frances is going to California for a month on her honeymoon. Home around 12:00

Wednesday March 9 1938
Am I so unattractive? Does familiarity breed contempt? Have I misjudged Walt so terribly?
“Do you want me to take you to the door or can you make it yourself” What a lovely way to finish off an evening. Especially one spent in the company of 5 others intimately and 150 others suburbanly.
Walt came down with P. Bauchman & others. I went to AJB dinner at the Deshler with them. Had good food with plenty of silver. Even with F.H.G. you need 20% for modernizing – $500 is what we’d need for corner house at $1200 for house & $1100 for repair. My spirit could survive that but not the rebuff of that goodnight. Can I be happy with so thoughtless a person?

Tuesday March 8 1938
Got material at Lazarus for wedding etc. Blue- green chuckerspun.
Got it out- made darts- cut out yellow silk dress & washed my hair tonight. – Brag.

Monday March 7 1938
Not so many times left to come down on bus- about 13– (too many at that)
Stan said I was in a good humor today. I thought I acted just as usual so it was probably his humor that was good.
Hoped my pattern would be here but no luck. So another evening fiddled away.
Connie Sue- Mr. & Mrs. Davis’ granddaughter here. Calle me down to see her. It’s a pity the way they are spoiling her. Thelma doesn’t like it but doesn’t say anything so as to preserve peace.

Sunday March 6 1938
Rosina’s mother had an announcement party to announce March 20, 1938 for Bernard Brooks & Rosina wedding. But me I get cramps & can;t go and with me supposed to sit on BB’s right. – I felt better around 2:30 but daddy had the car & didn’t come home until 4:00. But we went out for a while.
Mrs. Hill- panel evangelist talked at BY.
Home & curled up on Wally’s lap for a while & to bed.
