Friday March 25 1938
Willard Durfee came with Walt & Mary to meet the bus and we all went out to BBB’s & Rosina’s new home. So nice. We looked at cook books while the boys played poker. Had waffles eventually on the maker we gave them. BBB too sleepy to be a very good host but I enjoyed myself anyway. Home & bed – 12:30.

Thursday March 24 1938
Ben will either be layed off Monday or go into the Mail Room. He says he’s glad he’s getting out of the company but at the same time is very bitter.
Made up movie title “Little Twists” for a Dispatch contest tonight – fun – and then just fiddled. & I don’t mean played the violin. To bed about 9:30.

Wednesday March 23 1938
Stan wen to Lancaster this morning. Things went fine because we weren’t rushed I guess.
Carp at Lancaster makes $20 per week. Has 7 kids & is a victim of “The Purge”. It could ge you down if you would let it. But I think about the rest too.
Cleaned out drawers & things. Radioed – Talked to Aunt May. Bath – read – nails – bed.

Tuesday March 22 1938
Bridge party at Mary Fletchers. Rainy weather. But so warm 82° – The forsythia is in blook & all the bushes are showing green. Oh what a freeze will do to it.
The drivers start on a four day week next week. Me just the same I guess.
Wrote a letter to Walt. Not much happened to tell him. I’m supposed to keep mum about everything at work.
To bed about 12:30. Such night crawlers at Mary’s back door. About a foot long & so thick you had to step on them.

Monday March 21 1938
11 more times to get up at 5:00. The axe is really falling around HOG – guess nobody is safe. Oh me.
Spring weather – no it’s summer. 74 today officially. The sun so pretty. But it took the pep out of me.
Hemmed slips tonight. Stan complained of it showing today. Bath & read & to bed at 9:30.

Sunday March 20 1938 – at Prospect Street Methodist
A lovely, lovely day for the wedding. Preceded by Margaret & Loren, BBB & Rosina came down the aisle together & were married. The church overflowed. Rosina’s church and minister. Afterwards to a reception for bridal party. Walt ushered & a few friends. Not many relatives. Took pictures & Rosina’s boss took movies. We threw rice on them as they came out of the picture studio before going out to her house.
We came home about 2:00 leaving their car very much decorated.
And so to bed.
Daddy says he won’t give me away.

Saturday March 19 1938
Finished dress & coat this A.M. & pressed. Walt & I got the waffle iron for BBB & R. Also bought 5 boxes candy for Rosina. Went to rehearsal at 4:30. Practised step & ½ with them.
Gave them the waffle maker after. They seemed pleased.
Walt & I went uptown about 8:15 to look at chairs (didn’t get any) when we got back to the car. Parked behind church the handles were crooked & one gone. Evidently some one made an unsuccessful attempt to swipe it. Home & to bed.
Daddy & Mary planted gladiolus. Will they bloom 3 months from today?

Friday March 18 1938
Shower for Rosina tonight. She was very much surprized until the last minute. Mother gave her a crocheted rug & Mary the comfort she had made. She got lots of nice things, luncheon cloths, dish towels, sheet-pillow cases- etc.
Walt went to a party for BBB. He got home about 2:00.
Drastic changes are to be made in personnel – Reduction of forces about 20%- Don’t know yet how it will affect our Dept.

Thursday March 17 1938
In rereading Walt’s letter tonight the $70 dawned on me – a Raise!– oh how grand. Was I dumb – the letter was dated the 15th.
Cleaned my room tonight – and it took nearly 2 hours – Let’s see – 2 hrs to a room – 6 rooms – 12 hours to clean my house at that rate. I’ll have to speed up someplace.
Washed hair – did nails – figured accounts & so to bed.

Wednesday March 16 1938
The first spring day- almost Aprilly – 72 at 3:00 P.M. officially but it hailed on the way home.
The woman who gazed so mournfully into the Scioto at Town St. when I went to Lazarus for lunch was still there when I went back to work. I hope I don’t find her a suicide in tomorrow’s paper.
Finished dress tonight except hem. And so to bed.
Letter from Wally tonight says they have already started to shingle the roof of our house. Green, thank goodness.
What did he mean “Yes I did” – so now it is $70”—-
