Thursday April 14 1938
Stan pinned me down today so I told him I would be quitting June 10. He still thought it was October. Seemed a little disturbed and said he’s see what he could do about a vacation.
Mrs. Davis gets no better fast. Nobody eats and mealtimes and life is disrupted as sickness usually disrupts it.
Suddenly decided to start packing so cleaned out everything of stuff I won’t be needing. Cleared out a little anyway. – And so to bed.

Wednesday April 13 1938
Stan has been too nice lately. It’s fun to work when he’s like that.
Caught up on filing today, typed about 30 copies of a new one truck daily to Lancaster Schedule, checked and entered Natl Freight and the day was about over.
Saw a sweet nightie at Lazarus this noon so I got it. Peach & lace & embroidery.
Finished my pink broadcloth house dress except hem. Bath & to bed.
Swell weather – about 74° – sunny and a sweet breeze.

Tuesday April 12 1938
Very warm with my winter coat sitting on the sunny side of the street car.
Stan went to Lancaster at noon and we hardly missed him.
Got busy on my house dress 35¢ total cost. Nearly finished it.
Wrote a letter to Wally.
Got “Unit 1” of silverware at Kroger’s tonight. Nice, I think.

Monday April 11 1938
Forgot my candy, so had to go back but made the bus ok. Good thing I went back – sold 50¢ worth today.
Carl’s dad died this morning. Hadn’t eaten for 12 weeks. Cancer of the stomach. Carl feels so badly that his dad suffered so.
Helen Wook down this evening. Just talked. Wedding plans- house decoration – her dates – etc.
Bought my Easter shoes at Miller Jones store. Picked them out & was afraid they would be $4 but they were only $2 so I bought the house slippers I’ve admired so long. But I’m afraid they’ll cut.

Sunday April 10 1938
Down to Walt’s mothers for dinner. Such a pretty day but rather cold. Home about 4:30. To BY early to get ready to dramatize the Easter empty tomb scene for Glenn. But the key to the property box was lost with nothing but angel costumes and one other out. So we used angel dresses on our heads. And the June – the angel – (not really) snickered when we came out.
We (Walt & I) went out to BB’s after. He had invited us but hadn’t told Rosina. So I helped her with dishes. The boys read magazines & we listened to the radio. – Is that entertaining?

Saturday April 9 1938
Met Wally around 4:00 & we picked out wall paper for bedroom & breakfast room. Then did shopping for his mother. While dribbling in soda at Isaly’s realized it was too late to get candy.
After supper we took hot water in the sprayer and attacked the wall paper in the 2 rooms. It comes off easily after it soaks for about 1 hour.
BBB & Rosina stopped in for about an hour. Popcorn.
And so to bed.

Friday April 8 1938
Wally & Mary met the bus & we went directly out to Edison to see the Junior Play. Quite good.
Quite and ice storm in Marion Wed & Thursday. Split the apple tree in our neighbor’s yard and there were branches down all over town.
Lots of water between Delaware & Marion via Prospect.

Thursday April 7 1938
Bridge party a success I guess. Clara B won the Bridge Summary & Mary Fletcher the make up cape.
Very simple on my part. Had only 8 plates & 8 forks in the way of dishes.
And so to bed about 12:30

Wednesday April 6 1938
Woke with cramps about 5:00 this morning but got up at 7:00 & managed to get to work & last the day out.
Stan’s vaccination very “mellow”. Had it a week ago Monday as a result of the Smallpox scare around here.
Got Culbertson’s Summary for bridge prize & coke & pineapple & straws & wrapping paper for party.
Letter from Walt say it’s 1749 hrs. Yet.

Tuesday April 5 1938
Bought bridge mix, tallies, make up cape for party Thursday.
Cleaned my room & am so tired. Bath – wrote Wally & so to bed.
