Wednesday May 4 1938
Didn’t hear my alarm so had to dash off- But got a ride to work. But about 10:30 cramps got me down. Went to rest room and wasn’t able to come home until about 1:30. On street car. Thought I’d never get here. Cramps, the rest of the day and night.

Tuesday May 3 1938
Hot- Hot – about 85°. Bridge club tonight at Clara Bickles out in the country near Canal Winchester. Such a lovely evening. The drive was so nice. I had fair cards for a change. My score of 1710 was better that the 210 I made two weeks ago.
Home & couldn’t go to sleep. Thought I smelled smoke. Got up at read the book Rosina gave me. And back to bed around 1:30.
Stopped at Lazarus tonight and found a piece of lace for my wedding dress. Got 11 yards.

Monday May 2 1938
Helen Wood came down tonight to sew. I crocheted.
Then over to confectionary for a soda & cheese popcorn.
Stan in Logan again today.

Sunday May 1 1938
Walt went to church with BBB while I came home & started dinner. Mary made strawberry short cake & I made spanish rice, spinach cottage cheese & pineapple salad- tea.
Mary & the boys played Ball in the fairground. Rosina and I went to our house but couldn’t get in. Messed around. Had cinnamon toast & apricots for supper. Went to BY but I was so worn out that when Walt started criticizing me I broke down & we walked back home. So tired

Saturday April 30 1938
Mary & I went to our house about 9:00. I washed woodwork while she took paper off kitchen. Back after lunch. Walt cam over and mowed yard.
After supper we went up to Loebs and picked out our furniture. Lounge chair $34.50- stove $87.50, bkfst set $21.75- rug & pad $182.00. Were there from 6:45 to 9:15.
To bed early.

Friday April 29 1938
Daddy and Walt met the bus and took me to see pansies at Heine Meyers. Seed came from England. They were lovely- so many.
Home & to bed.

Thursday April 28 1938
I’ve had an ivy plant in my room all winter. But I neglect it. The poor thing nearly dies and then I bestir myself to water it. And never has it failed me. It always starts growing again. Oh for a philosophy of life like that.
Such a rain storm tonight. Really Aprilly.
Cecil Purdum picked me up tonight as I was waiting on a Broad Street car. Then went around after Evelyn. She told me she and Margaret were planning a party for Frances & I. How nice.

Wednesday April 27 1938
Cliff told me tonight that there is no hope for Mrs. davis. Poor Mr. Davis.
Weather perfect- about 84° today. Nearly melted walking up town this noon. Lunched in Lazarus basement and Helen gave me a coke “on the house” – Good.
Still crocheting.

Tuesday April 26 1938
Headachy all day.
Perfect weather. The spirea is nearly out and lilacs have passed their peak. The leaves on the catalpa trees coming out- maples in full leaf. It’s a pity to stay indoors. Thank goodness this is the last spring I’ll waste.
Called Aunt May tonight. She’s in the midst of hand cleaning.
Washed my hair.
Crocheted- Got a smaller hook tonight & it goes much faster.

Monday April 25 1938
Brought apple blossoms to work with me. So pretty.
Stan insists on talking all the time- so hard for me to get anything done – politics- his family- office scandal- movies- baseball- his ambitions- changes to come- I wonder if he realizes what all he tells me. Good thing I know how to keep my mouth shut.
Crocheted- did my nails- bath & so to bed about 9:30.
Wrote to Mary Sheneman inviting them to our wedding.
