Sunday April 25 1943 Easter – Latest date Easter can occur.
Had 47 in our dept. this morning & our Easter offering for vacation schools was $6.00. About 15 of the children stayed for church & 4 of them went forward. There are 7 to be baptized this evening I think. Gave them zinnia seeds in the dept.
To mother’s for dinner. She kept Kathy this morning because of her being exposed to chicken pox. While Walt bowled I cleaned ceiling paper in Mary’s room. Then Walt, Daddy & I took wild flower trip. Got hazel nut branches in swampy wood & found lovely bank along Whetstone but I fell over a fence.

Cleaned bedroom, Kathy’s room & bathroom.
Wally off this afternoon for Fred Guthery’s funeral. Quite an affair, I guess.
Went up town for my Easter hat & found a darling white one at Kresge’s for $1.69 but almost didn’t get it when I laid it down for a minute. But she didn’t look good in it, so I got it back from her. Then got red checked taffata dickey at Jonas so I’m all set for Easter.
Only a few narcissus out but hepaticas, blood root are pretty.

Wally gave me $5 tonight for clothes. He gave me $2 last week for Kathy, too. He makes 60 cents per hour at the Ordnance Plant. He makes $165 per month at bank, with $16.50 deducted per month for War bonds, $6.40 for Victory Tax and $1.65 Social Security. We still owe $50 on the $300 loan from upstairs have loans on 3 ins. Policies. $56 – $35 – $100.00. Owe about $300 on the car & $1100 on our house. And Wally will probably be drafted next Sept. We have the $180 for living room suit & mattress we bought last June paid.

Sunday April 18 1943
Mrs. McClure brought Kathy in crying just as Rev. Holloway reached climax of 4 Sundays. But I took her to Walt & he went to get his mother & Lewis. We went to Richwood right after Sunday School & they went to church there while Wally & I & Kathy got ice cream & visited a greenhouse. Then to Aunt Ollie’s for dinner. She had prepared last Sunday, too.
Young Adult Fellowship started tonight after church. About 20 present out of the 120 eligible. So I’d call it only fair success.
Kathy wore her new Easter outfit.

Down to church in afternoon. Uncapher got the idea of the changed room pretty well. Kathy & I went shopping together to get her slippers & bonnet for Easter. She seemed to enjoy it & trotted right along. Got 3 colored pictures from Christmas film.
