Trella Hemmerly – 1932-08-08

Monday August 8th 1932
Woke up at 10:00 with Pat curled at my feet. Went to Swigart’s at noon and got the play. Typed the first act. Went to “Doomed Battalion” on bread tickets with Mary Burtch. She came up here for supper and afterwards we read a western story using Mary as the heroine-bandit, Bill as the hero and Bernard Brooks as the villain. Green camp scene of the action.

Sunday August 7th 1932
Saw the kids at Sunday school at last. Mary asked me down for dinner but I had to refuse for Uncle Gus’s and Guy’s were here for dinner. Donald left for Akron afterwards and I went out to get Mary. She was full of Bill and the Assembly. Walked out to her house for supper. Went to B.Y. Nita took us for a ride and mother came after me at Mary’s about 9:30. Gee I’m glad she’s home.

Sunday July 31st 1932
Wore my blue dress. It looks swellish. Up about 6:00. Got to Granville about 9:00. Went to the girls room and then to church in Swayze Chapel. I went to Sunday School. DePuy taught. Wonderful, as usual. Saw Gwen Lewis for a minute and visited Stone. Burtches and we went to Newark Mounds for dinner. Mary Burtch got me a date with +”Bill” and she had one with Gordon. Had lots of fun in the cemetery and walking railroad tracks.
