I didn’t wear my ring today of course I realized I was doing it only to salve my hurt pride. So childish. Of course Stanley made a fuss over my not wearing it.
Stopped at Lazarus tonight for some pink & green broadcloth at 10¢ a yard.
Bridge party at Margaret Ferguson’s. Frances is going to California for a month on her honeymoon. Home around 12:00

Am I so unattractive? Does familiarity breed contempt? Have I misjudged Walt so terribly?
“Do you want me to take you to the door or can you make it yourself” What a lovely way to finish off an evening. Especially one spent in the company of 5 others intimately and 150 others suburbanly.
Walt came down with P. Bauchman & others. I went to AJB dinner at the Deshler with them. Had good food with plenty of silver. Even with F.H.G. you need 20% for modernizing – $500 is what we’d need for corner house at $1200 for house & $1100 for repair. My spirit could survive that but not the rebuff of that goodnight. Can I be happy with so thoughtless a person?

Monday March 7 1938
Not so many times left to come down on bus- about 13– (too many at that)
Stan said I was in a good humor today. I thought I acted just as usual so it was probably his humor that was good.
Hoped my pattern would be here but no luck. So another evening fiddled away.
Connie Sue- Mr. & Mrs. Davis’ granddaughter here. Calle me down to see her. It’s a pity the way they are spoiling her. Thelma doesn’t like it but doesn’t say anything so as to preserve peace.

Sunday March 6 1938
Rosina’s mother had an announcement party to announce March 20, 1938 for Bernard Brooks & Rosina wedding. But me I get cramps & can;t go and with me supposed to sit on BB’s right. – I felt better around 2:30 but daddy had the car & didn’t come home until 4:00. But we went out for a while.
Mrs. Hill- panel evangelist talked at BY.
Home & curled up on Wally’s lap for a while & to bed.

Saturday March 5 1938
Warm & springy- but windy & rainy. Mary called me from my room. I allowed myself to be blown to Fourth & Broad to meet her. Then out to Aunt May’s to get grandma.
I drove home – Got in about 3:45. Mr. Amerine picked us up & showed us a too small house on Greenwood & a too big one on Park. Wally has his eye on the one on the southeast corner of Fairground & State. Needs terribly much done but if we could get it for $1000 we could fix it up.
Walt took me to see F. March in “The Buccaneers”

Friday March 4 1938
Friday evenings in Columbus are terrible!
Ate uptown tonight. 35¢ for dinner & breakfast is better tham 50¢ here.
Figured up candy earnings & losses.
To bed at 9:00.

Thursday March 3 1938
Too many evenings in my room alone. Any how I’m terribly lonesome. Plenty of things to do – drawers to clean out- books to read but nothing is interesting to do by oneself.
Not even reading Walt’s letters with his protestations of adoration.
So I guess I’ll go to bed. 8:30.
Do you suppose the next 12 weeks will ever pass?

Wednesday March 2 1938
After only 2 days of sunshine fog, mist and rain again.
Walked up to Lazurus for lunch & my complexion today. 15¢ in my purse. A 15¢ lunch & no tax card. Cashier is trusting me thank goodness.
Letter from Walt tonight full of religion and front page of Monday’s Star. Why I don’t know. Accidents reported mostly.
From Walt’s letter he spent last night figuring too – had summaries in his letter.

Tuesday March 1 1938
Lambish today. Bright sun but a little chilly.
Spent about an hour tonight figuring clothes requirements before June. About $30. I think I can make it. Wrote Wally a miserable letter. Good thing he has a full & understanding heart.
I’m so tired. From wearing this ancient tight slip no doubt.
