Somebody has taken over book record cards on the very Sunday we need them for reports. The missionary offering for the year is over $85. After dinner helped Mary sort clothes & things & put them away.

Raining cats & dogs. I met Mary at noon & ate over there. June still groggy from her date which lasted until 5:00. Took Mary to work & her to Rutherford’s, shopped & came home & dug in on the house. Had cleaned my vanity this morning. June & Mary here for chili supper. Then we left Kathy & dishes for Wally & went bowling. Then June bought her a watch & she & Kary bought Kathy a gold bracelet. Then we picked up Emma Osterholt & went to Mary Clark’s to visit. THen we all went to see “Margin for Error”. March of Time [newsreel] had gruesome war pictures from Russia. Then cokes & home for steak sandwiches.

Lt. June Howe* & her mother arrived this afternoon for a visit while June is on leave from ANC at Fort Knox. Our family over to mother’s for supper & just after we ate Mary called. We went down to get her. She passed mental 138 out of possible 150- had answered 141. Second in her group of 27. She’ll go in about 2 weeks. She had to work tonight- June’s boyfriend from Fremont came down to see her. Mrs. Howe went out to Rutherford’s & Daddy & Mother brought me home.

Planned to visit Scout office for several things but mother gone, Wally couldn’t get out early & Mrs. Miller with broken wrist didn’t feel up to coming over even though she was asleep. So I woke her up & took her along. Was ok for first 30 minutes but then she wanted held & that was tough on me while supervising the “production line” for “manufacturing” cartoon books for service men.
Cold but nice this evening so we planted sweet peas, grass seed & transplanted some roses.
