My pictures of markert dedication in Star – very clear – can even read marker.
David called about 9:30 – Sarah Hillary Meister Haldeman was born at 9:04 – 7 lbs 12 oz. Caesarian section – & she was crying lustily in the nursery when David saw her.
Judy working from 4 PM to ?? Linda from 8:30 to 3:00 – Kathi’s car wouldn’t start – out of gas?
David called at shop after Kathi & I left & left number of phone in Karen’s room. Sarah with them when I called back & they say she is beautiful & watches their every movement with her eyes. They’re ecstatic! Worked on billing weddings.

At home all day. Called Uncle Allen about noon. He’s going into hospital Wednesday – tumor on his colon. Says Chalkers are buried near Marlboro or Galstonbury, Conn. Has now traced Hildreth line through Chalker & Tuttle back to England in 1500’s.
Nice lettuce, tomato, cheese, green pepper & ham salad from my lamp post garden mostly.
Repotted lots of plants in greenhous using good soil mixture Howard made.
Called Marcella Haldeman but she’s to booked up to go to the Cape with us.

Slow day for Saturday. Martha off.
To Rotary Towers on Delaware Ave at 2:00 for unveiling of marker for Jacob’s Well. No Star photographer showed up so Carl Lehner asked me to take pictures for the Star. Had just put in a 36 exp black & white so shot like mad there and at the shop to use it up. Carroll picked up film to take to Star.

Mrs. Jones cleaning AM. I went in to shop about 1:30. Sometimes I wonder how they operate when I’m gone for 3 weeks when I see the chaos when I’m not there for a few hours.
Supper with Kathi & kids at Kathi’s. Mary arrived and we all went to OSUM for “Gypsy”. Well done for the facilities available. Kids really entranced.

Bob Webb of Metropolitan in with new pension plan-profit sharing of corporate profits. Called Leo Genereaux for more explanation of accounting on In & Out orders. Must talk to Grady more.
Home about 7 – Had egg & tomato sandwich. First tomato ripe on patio tomatoes. Howard took me to Ralph Boger’s wheat field at back of Terradise where Ralph was combining. Ralph asked me ride a sweep around. Fascinating to see the rakes pick up the grain stalks & watch the hulled grain pile up in the hopper. Talked to Virginia Wetzel & Mrs. Pommert & cut yarrow along road.

First day as a corporation for Hemmerly’s Flowers & 9 years ago today opened doors at 615 East Center. Put new cash register into operation – Dave Price standing by. I’m retaining all previous accounts receivable as sole proprietor of Hemmerly’s Flowers & will pay bills through June 30 out of that. Worked until 7:30 & brought weddings home to bill but too tired.
Kathy did payroll and brought it in, but too sick to work.

Funeral work not delivered so we took it. Dave Woessner didn’t show up until 12:25 to deliver it. Mary called at shop to invite us to dinner. Kathi, kids & Mother also there. Home & worked around yard. Got old pool ready for kids to use but Kathi took them swimming before coming out about 5:00. She was very tired. Left kids to stay all night.
