Hiked from Sol Duc area but no views like Hurricane – Log trucks dominate roads. Drive to Las Push – Large cottage poorly furnished. Beach at Rialto great. Watched hundreds of fishing boats come in at sunset.

Sunday, August 15, 1971
To Agate Beach on Strait of Juan de Fuca – 75 cent collecting fee but stones were beautiful. Bought agate necklace & Chii Japanese wood carvings. Drove to abandoned Olympic Hot Springs. Picnic supper along lake.

Saturday, August 14, 1971
Took Merryvale Trail & then drove up to Hurricane Ridge – cold! Ate in caar with spectacular views. Hike to Hurricane Hill – snow & wildflowers & marmots. Thought little about Norris wedding. Dinner in Lodge.

Friday, August 13, 1971
All day in Victoria getting ferry to Port Angeles. Cold on ferry. Cottage at Crescent Lake just adequate. $14. Picnic along lake for supper.

Thursday, August 12, 1971
Back for more mushrooms. Ferry from Vancouver to Swartz Bay through beautiful islands. Toured Butchart Gardens & me with no camera. Checked in at Capri Motel – Suite again – Drove around Victoria. Bought used Canon 1.9 $45.

Wednesday, August 11, 1971
Toured Vancouver AM with Boston nitwits. “No weeds grow out here.” Final business session – shopped PM. Mushrooms hand made. Toured Queen Elizabeth Park – dropped Exa II in fountain. $15 plate banquet had high school beefeaters band & good orchestra. Suicide from top of our hotel.

Tuesday, August 10, 1971
Mary has breakfast ready when I wake up. After PM session we drove along Howe Sound to Squamish. Scenery great. Supper of fish at Alpine Rest. Back to Klondike Party.

Monday, August 9, 1971
Hotel Vancouver beautifully decorated. Sessions are all business & trade fair not too exciting. Took night club tour. Dinner – Mitzi Gaynor 2 hour show & Lamplighters. Back to hotel about 2:00. Temp 89.

Sunday, August 8, 1971
Rocky & Mary out at 7:30 AM & Mary & I flew out of Columbus at 9:30. Arrived Seattle 12:50 (3:50 our time). Sunny trip & first class view great. Rented car & drove to Vancouver. Checked in at Georgian Towers. Registered for FTD Convention & by bus to Lumberjack Party.

Saturday, August 7, 1971
Took LeeAnn & kids to Mary’s & she took LeeAnn home about 4 & kids to Bordeaux to Tomlin who will have them till Kathi gets home Monday.
Weddings like clockwork. Packed until 1:00 AM.
