Tuesday August 15th 1978
MCHS board meeting at Kathleen Harris’ in Green Camp. Picked up Marion Stowe. Last board meeting with Richard Carey as president. Did his usual stumbling around. Gave him a 1931 Marion County Fair premium book as a remembrance. Carroll Neidhardt provided. Kathleen had delicious refreshments, but some of us had to do most of the servings – she was so tired. Picked up things from Saturday’s wedding at Green Camp United Methodist Church.

Trella Romine at nw Claridon Prairie Marker

Took Howard over to see marker. Cleaned house a little and fixed baked beans, coleslaw for picnic for June. Bill & Erma out and David and Sarah arrived about 4. David brought sausage for the picnic. He showed his Western pictures. WDIF reporter called for taped interview on 1979 history.

Saturday August 12th 1978
Up at 7:30 and over to prairie marker site at 9. Carl Lehner had brought the marker part, put it on the post and veiled it. Bill Schneider, Marion Star photographer had us do a fake unveiling for the Star. With the North American Prairie conference group had about 50 people there including Congressman Clarence Brown, Richard Mosley, Department of Natural Resources. Met Roger Troutman finally and he taught me 4 grasses! Barry took pictures for me. In to shop to do weddings busy day. Mary in with Jane Ulle and her two daughters.
