Preservation Workshop MCHS
Trinity Baptist Church
Jane Felt, Virginia Howard, Barbara Boggs, [unknown]

Saturday February 24th 1979 River over Pond ice piled along edge.
David called at 8 wanted me to go to Winnipeg with him to see eclipse of the Sun Monday. I told him I couldn’t and didn’t see how he could afford it!

To Trinity for preservation Workshop. 50 for lunch in about 60 total. Carroll befuddled everything by scheduling similar things at same time. Virginia Howard handled her part superbly. Curtains up at Bowen house and Catherine Loudenslager served tea and cookies there.
Back to shop at 3 and sorted pictures until 8:30. Took last batch for Al Tozer to copy.
Temperature back down below freezing. To bed at 10. Foot hurts so I can hardly walk.

Friday February 23rd 1979 Snow melting fast. River up. Temperature 48.
My “Baby’s” Gone!
Picked up indexing at Mary B’s, typing from Jane Felt at General Telephone and got to shop in the fog just before Steve White arrived. When he started taking my book out of the file and packing it to take I wanted to say “But it’s not ready yet!” Clara and Marguerite were still working on getting pictures and index slips together as we took the pages from them. And then Salt Rock Township was missing! Still haven’t found it. Fed Steve pimento cheese sandwiches for lunch and then back to checking through copy. Had to go to Mrs. Tuttle’s to pick up Christian and Missionary Alliance Church and 5 minutes after Steve left she called with corrections.
Mary picked me up at six- ate at L&K and Kenny “happened” to be there too. Bernard broke his wrist yesterday- fell in school parking lot. Stopped at hospital to see him. How can he sleep with his hand hanging up in the air? Then to the Palace to see “Outward Bound”- weird play about 8 people who don’t know they are dead and headed for heaven or hell! Awful fog.

Thursday February 22nd 1979
In at 11:30 after picking up indexing at Mary B’s. Clara and Marguerite spent all day checking biographies against index in envelopes and putting pictures in with index slips. I proof read and corrected things they found. Checked on facts to finish stories and worked straight through till 9:30.
Home in time to see some of “Roots, the Next Generation”. Alex Haley’s story of his family.

Wednesday February 21st 1979
Went to Frank Brothers Department Store fixtures auction. Felt so sorry for the Ryan’s. Looking for shelves to store Courthouse records. Only bought one- $20 but got tables for Country Store. Got display fixtures for shop and box of aluminum letters, toilet paper and light bulbs. But Carroll bought a huge table for $82! Can’t even move it!
When I came out to my car I had left my lights on and had to wait on an hour for AAA to jump my battery.
Wedding appointment with Hernandez who talked in Spanish half the time. Committee meeting with Mary Brandt and Margaret Barnhart to nominate Quest Club officers.
Clara and Marguerite Martin working all day on checking stories for pictures, etc.
Had dinner with gang and then came back to office and worked until 10 going through everything. Got to the bottom of my desk.

Sunday February 18th 1979
In at 11:30 to take bouquets to Sutton’s for their bridal show.
Dave still not there at 12:30 when I left. Had asked him to deliver the things by 12. When I called his house at 12:08 Randy said he had left so I know she lied. He finally got the candelabra and bench there at 1:30 for the show at 2:30. Laura, Tonya and Kass there to help me.
Home in a snowstorm and got stories finished on William Thew’s letter to England, Chamber of Commerce, Missionary Alliance Church, City of Marion, Chautauqua. Still have the Harding story to do.
