Tonya gave two weeks notice. She wants to be a housewife after they move into their new home. Mike gave 1 weeks notice- going to work at National Can recycling. Mary announced she and Tim plan to marry this summer or fall.
On top of 3 wedding appointments, visit from Al Tozer with more photos and trip to library to check out room for MCHS program meeting, finishing bulletins for MCHS, and getting to Bernard Brooks for printing, making up rose arrangement that designers ignored on today’s hook and delivering it and attending Camera Club meeting- also photographed Sutton & Lightner interior and St Paul’s exterior. No wonder I feel exhausted 11:30 p.m.

David to the market at 6 and I left at 7 without waking anyone. To the gift show in Columbus. Bought candy from Pennsylvania Dutch and some framed Rockwell pictures. After Caffco I didn’t need anything else.
Home about 1 and good to see Howard. Unpacked and in to shop about 5.
Kass said Mary had introduced her boyfriend Kenny, to them at the mall Sunday. I said don’t call him that. Just a friend. But when I saw them holding hands at dinner at Turroff’s, I wondered.

Breakfast at McDonald’s and then toured the Gerber baby food plant. Mostly stainless steel tanks and conveyor belts.
The Biltmore fee is now $7 and after a few runs and screams from Sarah and Josh, the attendant said to Karen “They sure are spoiled, aren’t they?” No guides now to show you around- they were filming a movie* with Shirley Jones [sic, should be MacLaine] but all we saw was equipment.
Headed for Cincinnati about 11 AM and David was sick, so tried to lay down in back seat but Josh and Sarah climbed all over him. When he asked Karen to keep them quiet and she said they had been cooped up and needed to exercise. In Knoxville we pulled into Wendy’s for hamburgers and David open the door and heaved! We were all embarrassed! Into Hink’s [Bob Hinklin] about 7 to pick up their car and David able to drive home barely. Hink had taken their car home from airport Sunday. David to bed as soon as we got home and since Jed had cried for 4 hours (Karen wouldn’t change his pants since noon!), the kids all went to sleep quickly.

On way to Charleston, SC, decided to drive out to Hilton Head Island. Sumptuous homes and golf courses. Kids loved Beach. Breakfast at a “black” restaurant on Island.
Into Charleston but only had time to drive around and admire some of the gorgeous homes. Nothing blooming yet and didn’t take the right road to go past the plantation gardens. Into Asheville and got a motel near the Biltmore Estate. I relaxed while the Haldemans went out for dinner. I slept on day bed and gave Josh and Sarah the bed which Karen felt was a better arrangement.

To Savannah Airport in plenty of time and plane was late. Here came Sarah out the ramp and David’s voice calling her back. Into Savannah and checked in at motel and then took walking tour along the river into the shops in the old Cotton Warehouse down cobblestone streets and back to the “squares”. Houses beautifully kept or restored. Visited the Juliette Lowe home and since I’m a 40 year Girl Scout they let me photograph. Had dinner at the Pirates House- so famous we had to wait 45 minutes to be seated with three kids! Got acquainted with all of the others waiting. Had “Flounder in a Casserole”. Our number one selling entree, the waitress said. Ate in the Captain’s Room- mementos of Robert Louis Stevenson on the wall from “Treasure Island”.
Drove out to Savannah Beach at dusk. Two beds and a roll away for Josh and Sarah.

David helped me load and left 1048 40th Avenue Northeast about 8:30. Beautiful 70 degree day stopped 2 hours at Silver Springs. It’s so commercial. Grounds well landscape but not much bloom. Saw herons feeding young while I was on glass bottom boat trip. Reptile exhibits interesting mostly all kinds of rattlesnakes. Didn’t see the show- how can turtles perform?
Into Days Inn at 5:30. Was afraid I couldn’t find a shopping center open tomorrow so drove out into the dark countryside up Route 17. After stopping at 2 Stop & Shop’s I got instruction to go out the interstate 204 and finally found a shopping center. Was gone 1 and 1/4 hours on the little jaunt and drove 40 miles! And then found I had film in my purse! C
