Finished planting iris – 22 varieties from Iris Test – Tranquil Moon, Argus Pheasant, Ballet Dancer – Courtier.
Worked at shop PM, weeded iris at lots. Wedding appointment. Visited Paris & Dad Romine. Mrs. Prichard & Helen Williams out here & left pie then came to shop & gave me $65 from Group. Melba Walker left pan of rolls.

Cold – high 72 – Unuterrably weary. Letter from Baker – telegram from Betty Fraser. In at 5 for wedding appointment. Sandy & I visited Hazel Chase in evening. She was feeling fair. Gave me 6 peruyi eggs from France. Sandy didn’t know about the $2,250 insurance her dad left her. Folks brought Kathy out so I wouldn’t be alone.

Bob Axe brought out things from hospital & acknowledgement cards. In at 2:00 to mee Vivian*. She & Mary & I went to cemetery. Brought flowers home to make arrangements for church. Mrs. Branum, Dad, Girls at Hospital, Olive Gill & Hazel Chase worked on tomorrow’s 2 weddings. Took fuji’s to Erma. Mary & Rocky & Vivian here for night.

Typed poems off for Dick Howard. He stopped at 10:00 & we planned service. Had lunch at folks & went to Axe’s with Akron folks. Dick was splendid. Axe said it was largest funeral they have ever had. 50 floral pieces & about 10 other gifts – 36 here for supper that Erma Hutchman & Garden Club members fixed. Paris & Helen out later.

At Mother’s all night. Home around 9:30 & finally got Dick Howard – He will conduct service. Mrs. Boger & Mrs. Stumbo brought food. Rocky & I had lunch. Rocky mowed lawn. Helen Romine [Paris’ wife] helped clean house a little. Gertrude & Mildred called.
At funeral home from 7:00 on. Flowers & friends helped.
