Up at 6:30 & in to do Dawson wedding. Mary & Rocky came out & got kids & had them for the day. Stopped to se Dad & Cora Romine & took them some roses. Also some to Mrs. Boger. Kathy & David watched TV from 7 to 11. P)layed with Laddie [dog], Juney & Fella [cats]. Warm but rainy. OSU won in Rose Bowl 20-7.*

Friday, December 31, 1954
Peacock here to put in Servisoft water softner [sic] rental before I wnt to work. Did Ambrose wedding & misc. corsages. Joanna Harris home with us. Mary & Rocky out to see the new year in. First time David stayed up & he thinks B.S. means “Before Softner”! Kathy & Joanna to MYF Watch Night.

Had Ruth Ruhlman out for day to visit. Bioll Smith here about water softner & I ordered rental installed.

Tuesday, December 28, 1954
Washed things by hand. After hamburg lunch took Pat & Keith Brown home & then to shop. Had 6 orders for corsages yesterday but when I got through at 6:15 I had made 20. Kathy boxed. Beth Hanning home with us. Me poohed – to bed at 10 after sleeping in chair since 9.

Monday, December 27, 1954
Daddy called at 9 for me to come to work. Worked till 2:30 then uptown with Kathy & Pat Esterline shopping. Got Kathy new grey coat – skirt & green cardigan, saddle pants & blouse. Me a dress – chartreuse & 2 blouses. Popcorn & TV with kids. Bed at 11:00.

Sunday, December 26, 1954
Cleaned at house util 2:30 when Clark, Keeler, Caulfield, Powers, Van Miles, Stump & Sherer* arrived to watch birds. Plenty of chickadees, nuthatches, titmice, downy woodpeckers. Paris & Helen & Margaret Anne came as they were leaving & stayed for supper. Margaret Anne to MYF with Kathy. Showed slides to Paris & Helen. Margaret Anne & Pat Esterline all night.

[*All members of the Burroughs Nature Club, including Edith Keeler, Jeanette Powers, Isabelle Stump. This preceded the annual Audubon Christmas Bird Count which Trella participated in from about 1960 on.]

Saturday, December 25, 1954
Wonderful Christmas for everyone. I gave Electric Picture to folks & coffee table to Mary & Rocky. Folks gave Mary & Rocky Electric coffee pot & Rocky & Mary gave folks Electric blanket. Mary & Rocky gave me case for slides & folks gave me $350. In to Mary’s after snack supper for pictures & then drove around to see lights. Made 2 corsages for tomorrow then home.

Friday, December 24, 1954
Made arrangements all day – from $1.50 to $10. Vivian Adams in on bus at 1:00. Home at 7:00 & Mary & Rocky helped clean house a little. VIvian staying with us all night. Took pictures while singing carols, etc. Kids used Dutch Wooden Shoe for stockings. They went to Dads for an hour in P.M. Miss Ray terribly.
