Monday, March 21, 1955
Worked on Crawford Co. Census here at home. In at noon & worked at shop. New spark plugs for Ford. Paid $6,000 from Insurance & Pension money on Claridon Acres* mortgage. Balance $2,885. In tonight had Marjorie Deyson do Kathy & my hair. Stopped at Mary & Rocky’s. Rain. Warm.

[*Not yet referring to the property as Terradise, but adopting Ray’s calling it “The Acres”]

Sunday, March 20, 1955
Lazy A.M. Alice & Milan Gorby over at 1:00 & inspected patio. Then off for Clearfork Resevoir for Ducks. Bird list of 27 during afternoon topped by Wood Duck here just as we got home. Waffles for supper & Milan played Monopoly with kids.

Saturday, March 19, 1955
Milan Gorby here at 7:30 to work on Patio. Daddy out twice with technical help. Finished in at 5. 375 blocks! Poohed but went across river for hike. Harbinger of spring blooming. Kathy to basketball Tournament (Lions) her team won. TV & bed at 11:00. Mother & Daddy out evening.

Friday, March 18, 1955
Milan Gorby over at 8:30 to start on Patio. We worked all day & got good start. In after supper and Kathy & I shopped. Her blue dress – me avacado shoes, purse & new stretch hose. Then to “Conquest of Space” & “Battle Taxi” – Mary & Rocky went at 7.

Thursday, March 17, 1955
Cleaned house. David still off. Price from Bill Hutchman [Lockwood Lumber] on window $220 – all thermopane ordered it. To Y at 6:30 & had nice chat with Ed & Marion Thomas* before the dinner (I was guest of Marge Bray) Ed good as usual.

While packing at shop for talk at LaRue, Olive Gill called saying Uncle Kelse had died – Hazel’s only hope to pin to. Made talke to about 125 women (County Acheivment Day). David home with sore throat.

Tuesday, March 15, 1955
Met Paul Davis at shop & he gave me Census Portfolio for Crawford Co. ED. 8,000 acres short! Then to Hiway Hotel* for lunch with Girl Scout Executive Board. Stopped at Marge Bray’s to see about windows.

[This motel was located on then Rt. 30S (now 309) near Grave Creek]

Monday, March 14, 1955
Took Girl Scout tents to Tiffin to be repaired & then to Tiffin State Hospital to see Hazel Chase. She’s so blue. Took her eye out Friday. Headache tonight.

Sunday, March 13, 1955
In with David (to Sunday School) to do Dixon wedding. Home about 3 & Bill & Erma Hutchman out for visit.

Saturday, March 12, 1955 warm – 65
Kathy & I built steps down bank from greenhouse to garden. Milan Gorby over – wants to help me do something around here. Kathy & I to sale in Donia. No purchases. She & I washed car. David at Jerry Cox’s all day. Kathy to Jr. Hi. basketball Tournament – Caledonia lost to Morral.
