In town & signed papers for marker for Ray’s grave. Will be around $70. Bought electric clothes dryer at Montgomery Wards – On sale $139. Will get $25 back from electric company on wiring had done before. Dad & Paris Romine fishing when I got home. Caught 7 catfish.

Worked outdoors. Front bank. In at 5:30 for 4 wedding appointments.

Ranny Williams* out birding when I got up. Walked around with him some & then got picnic ready & left at noon with Alice & Milan Gorby for Oak Openings. Picnic at Lake VanBuren. Hike to Horseshoe Lake at Openings. Too early too late to see ducks so didn’t get to Magee Marsh again. 33 birds.

Saturday, April 16, 1955
Beautiful day. Weeded front bank & iris garden. Set out more shrubbery. Daddy out fishing. David & I across river & set out Marsh Mallows & hollyhocks. Alice Gorby visited with me while Milan fished. Late supper & batch & bed – dead.

Friday, April 15, 1955
Paris & Dad Romine out fishing & caught 5 bass weighing nearly 8#. Mrs. Deyson out at noon & helped me finish cleaning house. Phyllis Kile & Kathy did all windows in & out. MYF hayride ended up here. Planned on 20 & 37 showed up. Showers, Kiles, Swisher, Lockards* helped serve.

Worked out doors all day. In at 3:00 to get order of shrubs & trees from Boyd’s (Tennessee). Planted past dark. Bertha & Frank Spencer stopped in P.M. 2 Pink dogwood – 5 white dogwood – 2 Hopa Crab – 1 Eleydon – 4 Flowering Peach – [illegible], spirea & abelia.

Wednesday, April 13, 1955
Worked in greenhouse all day. Transplanted lavender, schizanthus, petunias, marigolds.

Kids off school. Took David to Dr. Bertram Goodman to start orthodontary work & then to Dr. Jhon B. Vornholt for X-Rays – $50 to Goodman $11 to Vornholt. Back to folks with headache. Mary & Rocky brought us home.
