In at 11 to finish Fitzpatrick wedding after transplanting in greenhouse. Beautiful day. Mary & Rocky & Bill & Erma Hutchman out after I got home. To Mt. Gilead with Bill & Erma & had thin swiss steak with our supper.

Mrs. Deyson off but not busy. Beautiful day sunny & temp 70. Dick Grimm to Caledonia with flowers & stopped at Terradise to look at oil stone – its out. Saw a snake on river bank. Mary & Rocky out tonight. Leaving their lense to get close ups of birds at feeder.

Almost as busy as yesterday. Kids in. David haircutr. Brought load of flowers to Mrs. Jay Ulsh funeral. David to scout meeting.

Spring peepers, first peeps!
32 funeral pieces! Ran out of flowers & sent Mr. Deyson to Ten Eycks for snaps & daffs. Waram – 68 & rain. Potted 75 mum cuttings tonight. Early Crimson, Spellbinder & Coquette. Bed 10:30.

Read Forester’s “To the Indies”. Went to Mary Brocklesby’s to get Sassafras tree & enjoyed 2 hrs of Thew-Brocklesby history. Set out tree* & bulbs she gave me. Read Thew history that she wrote. Sunny day Temp 45.

[This Sassafras Tree stil grows at Terradise just south of the center garden in the upper lawn – above river bank.]

Plenty busy at shop. Mary took delivery to Harpster. Some of kittens have 1 eye open. Bed early – exhausted.

Friday, March 8, 1957
Terrible headache but stuck it out until 3 at shop. Mrs. Hopkins out to clean a little. In bed til 6 then to church for Kathy’s FHA-FFA Banquet. 10 girls out for slumber party & Handschug’s & Durhams for movies until 10:30. Girls meandered all night. Made pizza pie at 2:30!
