Kids home from school just as I started to work. Closed because of flu. Kathy right to be with it. Temp of 102.6 Dick Grimm got pefboard for wreath display. Bed at 8:00. Still headachy.

Planted daffs – Mt. Hood, Hades, Selma Lagerhoff, Moonshine, etc. In over lunch hour & did pom & sweetheart rose arrangement for Swink party. Headache. Home & more planting. Mr. Howser over & David is doing better on trombone. Bed early with headache.

Kids in from school. Stayed with Mary while I did program for Burroughs on flower arranging.

In to do Haycook-Pyle wedding. Mrs. Deyson doing funeral work. Beautiful sunny cool day. Planted new hybrid lilies – Crocus, Glden Chalice, Enchantment, Bellingham hybrids & new Darwin tulips. Mary & Rocky started fire in greenhouse. Kathy home from Otterbein with Swishers. Roger mowed & burned boards back of shack.

Usual Saturday. Busy at end. Kathy went to Otterbein to visit Beth Hanning. Roger, David & I ate at L&K & home about 8:00. TV – ironed sitting down at my new board.

Transplanted in the rain. Mr. Howser stopped by to discuss Golden Rod & bulbs. In to shop at 11:30. Rushing. Had Ed Hutchman deliver to Cardington. Watched “Green Pastures” on T.V. Earl Smith brought Kathy home from band & ask her for date Oct. 27.

Still remodelling – rearranging. Mary & Rocky out tonight & brought me a European Larch for birthday. Tried to light greenhouse stove – no luck. $48 day at shop! Daddy & Mother called AM from Venice. Fishing good 50# Tues.

Letter from Keith Lamb – Mary & Carl Jordan out for visit. Showed Smoky pictures & had ice cream. They bought 100 mixed narcissus bulbs from my 500. I planted some AM along with Dickes double daisy.
