David pretty low – Kathy had to go in for Jr. Fair Board meeting & me to work so Mary went out with David. He was better when I got home. Kathy had caked baked for me & presents ready. 33 1/2 [sic] record – Classics – pr. kitchen gloves & box of candy. Watched late movie.

Friday, November 1, 1957
David home from school with flu. In to shop with me. Kathy to football game tonight with Bob Swisher.

Thursday, October 31, 1957
David halloweened with Jay Miglore, John Axthelm, etc – soaping windows. Kathy drove him over & went after him by herself.

Tuesday, October 29, 1957
Mary & Rocky took Roger to Shelby after work. Kathy & I grocery shopped at Reece’s. Ford garage put in new steering free & charged 50-50 on the generator. Bill is $16.

Monday, October 28, 1957
Busy at shop. Mrs. Henry (Hannah) Sinning, Emma Wade’s mother died & 4 others. $26 funeral work. Supper & L&K & then to Girl Scout Council Meeting at Wesley – & presented Thanks badges to Mary Cheney & Ruth Kleinmaier. Car ready but had to send it back as the steering wasn’t right.

Sunday, October 27, 1957
In to do Slob-Redmond wedding. Cold but David, Roger & I went across the river & gathered hickory nuts & walnuts & cut weeds where we see them from the window. Watched “Mrs. Miniver” on T.V. Kathy to Halloween partyu with Earl Smith near Cardington.

Saturday, October 26, 1957
Saturday busy. At 5:30 I left for Cardington with load of flowers. No battery when I came out to start home. Generator out. Got to Denmark. Car stopped. Rocky came after me & Ford Garage towed car in. Got truck in marion & came home 8:30! Kathy to show with Bob Swisher. Watched “Honky Tonk” – Clark Gable – on T.V. Bed 1:30. Olks called Rocky from Florida.

Friday, October 25, 1957
School out for Teachers meeting. Kathy able to be up so she could go in for driver’s test. Passed easily. Can now drive without licensed driver in car. Cosmic Ray program on T.V. Popcorn – washing. Bed 10:30.

Thursday, October 24, 1957
David & Roger finished rock wall on S side of drive & transplanted honeysuckle bushes to bank by fence. I shopped & cara died. Police pushed me. At Earl’s Pure Oil station I discovered I needed a new battery. So that is why the car wouldn’t start! $19.95. David & I to concert: Stecher & Horowitz Duo Piano – wonderful classic playing.
