Day off at last. Misty warm spring day. Daffs, squills, bloodroot & some forsythia blooming. Cleaned garage (too many cats). Mother called about 10:00 saying Aunt May died tonight & Mabel Soliday today. Aunt May had been in hospital following a stroke 3 years ago.

Supper at Mother’s for Mary’s birthday. I had a wedding at Emmanuel Baptist & then back to shop to work on income tax that I know is wrong.

John Teetor out for bird hike across river. Saw a bittern! Loads of Kinglets & thrushes. Beautiful day. Spring beauties, violets, early daffs blooming.

David in to shop just as I was leaving for wedding at LaRue so he came with me. Had the translation of the German 1853 letters that Verda Baker had given him. Mostly from Frederich Sigler wanting to come to America – Writing from ___

Whole day on the Aransas Wildlife Refuge & got a list of 60 birds. Several “life new” ones & made birders out of Kathi & Don. No sign of the Whoopers from land.
