Wednesday May 15th 1935
Wally they met me at Godman’s with a rose to commemorate two years together.
In the evening we went to the band concert at Mirror Lake, on the campus. Stopped at a White Castle for hamburgers.
After we got home a fuse blew out. So instead of fixing it Davis’s said they’ll call the electric in the morning. That’s what they were paid for. So I went to bed in the dark.

Tuesday May 14th 1935
Stopped at the Clear Silk shop tonight to get some hose. I never saw such slow clerks and they didn’t wait on customers by turn so I walked out.
Had an early bath and went to bed.
This morning when I opened my glasses case one lens was broken. I dropped them last night and I suppose that did it. Goodbye $5.

Monday May 13th 1935
Surely did rain as we were coming into Columbus this morning. Representative Thomas rode down with Mr. Shelton too.
Mrs. Davis had the house all torn up so Wally and I went to see “Ruggles of Red Gap” -Charles Laughton as English butler transported to Western U.S.
Wally is on track of a job. Hope the poor kid gets it.

Sunday May 12th 1935
Got up at 9 so missed Sunday school. Aunt May’s came about 11:30. Mother had a nice dinner. Rained terribly about 1:00.
Uncle Allen’s stopped in late.
Went to church with Mother and Daddy. Didn’t see any of the gang. Daddy cracked nuts for me before we went to bed

Saturday May 11th 1935
Got a pair of overalls at Kleinmeiers -plenty big for shrinkage. When Daddy saw them he said “Let me put them on” and they were too big for him! So I gave him those and bought a smaller pair. Worked in the gardens with Daddy and Mary got a swell sunburn. About 75% of the dahlias he planted last Saturday were rotted. Our corn is up

Friday May 10th 1935
Wally met me at Godman’s to take me to the bus. Brought flowers and a Sunday star. Saw Sarah M. Hurd at bus station in Marion. Katherine Harvey came over in the evening to borrow my typewriter and stayed until 10:30. Sewed a little on my pink dress.

Thursday May 9th 1935
George Hensel is helping me with Motor Freight now. I sort, match and check it and he enters it. He makes so many mistakes though that I might as well do it all. I wonder if I was that dumb when I started. Probably.

Wednesday May 8th 1935
It’s finally stopped raining.
Wally and I took a walk over to the river tonight and then stopped at the Big Bear store and got some pretzels and some potato chips and at a drug store for Cokes
I dictated some letters to him as he has an appointment Friday at Huff’s Employment Agency. That kid does have Grit.

Tuesday May 7th 1935
Got mother 2 pair of hose for Mother’s Day and me a pair of panties- not for Mother’s Day. I’m waiting now for Davis’s to go to bed so I can take my bath. Worked on my quilt. I’m finishing up my candy box tonight. Some of it is still left from Christmas.

Monday May 6th 1935
Walt brought my picture (Xmas) over so Davis’ could see it.
I have a sore throat so Wally went to the drugstore and got me some Vicks.
He’s going to the Columbus Dental where Floy works to see about a job.
To bed about eleven.
