Worked ahead of Royce so she could clean. Worked in attic to make room for Christmas decoration boxes.
Took pix of kitchen- all cleaned up.
In about 5 to leave them at K-Mart- Wed is double print day. Had made labels and notices for EHMA and class of 1933- mailed 1933 but took packet to Anna May Schwaderer for her to mail them. My house has never looked like theirs does!
Both my hands ache terribly- arthritis?
Mary had her prelim physical preparing for her implant Friday. [Mary Hemmerly Hecker, Trella’s sister, had cataract surgery]. I’m to pick her up at 6:45 to be at hospital at 7:00
Kass called- going to Philly tomorrow. Her dad very ill- concerned about new lease for Hemmerly’s- Dasher wants clause that we pay 20% of heating and air conditioning replacement. She feels and monthly increase better.

Wrote up Huber annual meeting minutes and news release before going in to HH. Marvin’s battery charger brought my car’s battery up to charge.
At HH for photo with Francis Hazard Allison (library) and Jack receiving Rob Ry(?) Harding video for MCHSand HH- Rob requested I be in photo but Jack had it taken without me! I protested as Loni took more with me in it.
Geo. Brown in office and suggested more fields for database for fundraising.- Jack gave me info on contract to enter.
To Willis Nye’s to go over grant proposals he had received- Made call to Washington to get more info- “Rebecca” will send list of grants.- Willis not well.
Shopped at SuperX- Cover reports 5 for $1- rouge, card for Ruth’s baby, winter hose $23-
Sent copy of Newslife to local history office.
David called to thank me for notice of “Razor’s Edge” seminar in Cols.- He thinks he’ll go- Brought him up to date on my activities- first contact since Christmas!- 2 weeks.

Called Bill Nolan- Warned me away from Ralph Garfield (?). Finished Huber before Mary picked me up at 10:30 and she drove to Cols. Stopped to pick up “Sky and Telescope” and dishes and holders. To OHS by 12:30- GD and Tom want to come up to see programs on H.H.- Pat did a good job conducting first Exec. Com. meeting. But I had to leave by 3:30- picked up certification application. So glad I don’t have Pres. responsib.
Home by 4:45- had to detour around Thew cemetery area- car on top crushed down. Had sandwich and pie cause hadn’t eaten all day.- Created appreciation paper for John Watkins.
When tried to start my car- battery was dead and it was already 6:30! Time for dinner at Huber Annual meeting at Smorgasb[ord]. Called John Watkins- came out and took me in. Told me that I’m the best secretary he has ever had in any of his many capacities. About 40 at meeting.
Marvin LaRue brought me home and stopped to get his battery charger- put it on my car for overnight.
Bed about 11:30- really tired.

Called Norm for update on contrib. to Purchase Fund. He talked for 30 minutes on his concerns for MCHS. He spends as much volunteer time as I do.
Entered his data- revised report form and printed out report to display tomorrow along with brick purchasers.
Finished rewriting Bylaws and Standing Rules for MCH and printed out. Trying to compile the materials needed to apply for certification.
Newslife out with MCHS members on cover page as “Distinguished Citizens of 1989”- me included.

Spent whole day at computer- updating, correcting and printing Brick database- 488 records now.
Made meatloaf- baked potatoes and deep dish apple pie for supper.
Called Kathi at Rocky Meadows Circle- and she was there. Furniture arrived today- Only signed final papers this A.M- ?? helping them unpack-
Then called Ed and Sara Sheneman. Ed had called earlier this week concerned that they hadn’t heard from me for C’mas.- I did send letter
They had 17” snow for C’mas – Alan hauled families with his Jeep for C’mas dinner- First white C’mas in 69 yrs for Wilmington, NC.
Card from Mame Harmon Pape- Wants to get together for lunch when they get back from Fla- Little does she know I have her name to contact for Transformation Fund.

Reworked the Code of Ethics for MCHS to get ready to submit documents for recognition by OAHSM.
Cleaned out slant front desk in hall. Paid bills- took Howard to grocery
Took greens out of the 2 poinsettia plants in basket that shop sent me. Looks much better. Rounded up last of C’mas decorations but not enough pep to get them upstairs.
Worked on new Bylaws and Standing Rules for MCHS-
Should be working on book on Marion City-

Called Milligan in Chillicothe and told him to ask Richard Frank to speak at their “Main Street”
Moved Huber files to disk and created news release for Hubert annual meeting installed Quicken on my computer and make copies of disc – worked on it to try to learn it to teach Norm.
In to HH at 2 – picked up new combination dues notice and membership card from Laippley [?] and picked up two calendars – (Marion structures) drawn by Carroll Neidhart –
Heavy meeting with George Brown – Jack, Charlie and I to plan Transformation Fund Campaign. George brought lists of contributions to Marion Tech and Jack had Palace donor info in his head.- Listed Corporate donors and high and low figures- Then companies- then wealthy individuals. Already have $150,000 pledged for “sponsorships” of certain areas.
Took news release on Huber to Star and Huber minutes agenda for annual mtg.- Supper at Turoff’s with Mary and Geneva. Call from Ed Sheneman. Didn’t get my C’mas letter- so worried. Nice letter from Kathi- Hope to close deal on house by today.

Snow melting

Furnace really making racket – called Voisards About 7:30 – Steve got here about 12 – replaced Thermo – coupler and furnace running fine – also fixed leak from dishwasher drain.
Took down C’mas tree – needles dry and sharp – no more real trees for me – too much mess. Took about all day to pack C’mas stuff away.
Moved “island” from former kitchen to garage to make room for plumber to work on furnace – cleaned garage a little – lots of paper to burn
Vatican Embassy in Panama is considering moving its Embassy – thereby abandoning Noriega so US troops could move in to capture him.
Finished sauerkraut, mashed potatoes and pork from yesterday – so tired can’t even work on new Quicken program
Called H Hall to see if Ruth and Joe Lyon were there – talk to Jack and Dick West and nothing said about Harry Barchs(?) outburst against me.

Now 120 million workers in USA. FICA increase
Woke about 9:00! After going to bed at 9:30 last night.
Wrote up Huber Association minutes from December 18th meeting -my last board meeting as secretary.
Got dinner for Mary and Helen Romine. Pork loin and sauerkraut -mashed potatoes, carrots, celery and radishes, blueberry muffins and fruit salad they left about 4:30 .
Watched the ice break-up in river. Had fire in fireplace.
Funny noise -gurgling- in furnace so I turned heat and water temp down and will hope for best until tomorrow.
7 bowl games on TV but not for me. OSU lost to Auburn at Tampa.
Dave called me last night. He got two commendations from Admiral for his participation (and instigation and eating victims of San Fran quake on October 17th on Bay Bridge and Marina District district. Considering re-enlisting for a total of 10 years- would get a teaching job in Virginia- $30,000 bonus and could complete BA degree work.
