Huber legal document 3 hours MCHS 2 hours 43° Sunny
Kathi and Bob arrived Bellingham Washington 8:30 a.m.
Worked on compiling files of Huber Articles of Incorporation- non-profit status for Mark Radebaugh. Contrary to Mark Bauer the Edward Huber Memorial Association is not in arrears on anything!
In to Heritage Hall- Barber Lyon there. wants me to get her mother involved in MCHS as volunteer. She ordered five bricks.
Picked up Mary and Carl and Mary and drove to Cardington to eat at Al’s. All had chicken noodles and mashed potatoes- good $6 with tip and tax.
Took Mary to get her car from body shop. Was supposed to Trinity to hear Filipinos sing but too tired.

Eleanor Mitchell found dead by her phone. Kathy- delivery girl at shop- sent over to her house when Eleanor didn’t show up to take care of Pete’s mother when Kass and Pete went to Chicago.

Called Duane Brown for Judge Myers telling him judge wants to buy historically valuable artifacts David A. Brown had collected. Duane talked for 45 minutes about Brownie’s genius with radio and on development of radar- signal core during World War II.

volunteer hours
Sorted Huber legal papers- updated computer files- in about 2:00 and copying Huber stuff- one set for Mark Radebaugh- CPA that Edward Huber Memorial Association hired to file state and federal reports. As I see it there are none to file.
At 4:00 George Brown and crew- Jack Bull, Richard Bryson plus 4 board members met for instructions and pledge cards for funds to finish purchase of Heritage Hall. Picked Mary up and we ate at Fair Park restaurant. then back to Heritage Hall for another session with eight board members and Gary Somerlot. George said never had worked with group so willing to make contacts.

Volunteer hours 10 to 4:00 Heritage Hall bricks (6)
scratchy throat runny nose and no pep.
Picked up postcards at post office for invitations to Advent Sing. To Heritage Hall at 10:00- Eileen already there. Sold about 15 bricks and sent out 10 inquiry letters. Norm upset that my database has to have a record for each brick

Czechoslovakia a free Nation after 41 years of Soviet domination with Kremlin blessing. Another last European country throwing off Soviet Rule and establishing democracy, education relieved of Soviet constraints and people allowed to celebrate Christmas.
Ate with Mary at Wendy’s chili and frosty.

Volunteer hours 9 to 5:00 Heritage Hall M book bricks. High 53° cloudy windy
In to Heritage Hall at 9:00 Eileen Butterman reporting for duty. all fired up about being asked to volunteer and she’s great. Pitched in with enthusiasm and learns quickly.
Lots of people in to buy bricks and many phone calls. George Brown in and ok’d membership cards I had sorted for him & other aspects of campaign I planned. Wrote instructions for solicitors.
At 1:00 to Charlton Myers in Morrall to plan Marion City history. Tom Wagner there with report on Dave Brown’s house on Summit street. it’s jammed with boxes piles, etc.
Hard to keep Charlton on track but did get an outline. He loaned me George King’s book & on- on ‘Researching and Writing Local History.’
Took about 30 orders to Glen Gary for bricks to be ready for Christmas gifts. Tickly throat hope I’m not getting a cold.

Volunteer hours 1 to 4:00 – 3
In to Center worked at computer on brick records.
Kathi called from Haines about 11:00. She & Bob so excited that they saw 150 Eagles just N of Haines. Going back tomorrow. Will board marine ferry Mon about 4:0-0 – arrive Bellingham, Wash Fri AM. Stops in Sitka, Jeaneau, Peterburg.
Called Kristi to tell her about Kathi. Got answering machine. She called back about 12:30 and woke me. Seems comfortable in new assignment with Strategic Air Command at Castle Air Force base near Merced California. Plans to visit Kathi when she gets back to Reno and will apply for college in a few months.

Thanksgiving
Picked Mary up at 8:30 with station wagon loaded with her desk to take to Josh and Jed. To Cincinnati by 11:15. David and I to his office- showed me Foxbase and his network linking all his computers. David created my brick database files in Foxpro. Susannah made cranberry tarts, Sarah sugar cookies, Josh mince pie, Jed pumpkin pie. Karen did turkey dressing, and with turnip and lima bean garnish. cranberry ring, sweet potato crown, and delicious clam chowder. All delicious. Back to office but Cathy Meister took all the time making invitations to their open house. Back to visit before leaving at 6:00. Took a computer to Littleton Funeral Home in Springfield for David. No UPS service over holiday weekend.
Home about 9:30 p.m.
Kathi called about 11:00 from Tok- said Wrangell Mountains were beautiful against blue sky. No restaurants open in Tok, so they had a hot dog at convenience store and a Klondike for dessert. Taking popcorn back to sleazy motel. Weather 20 degrees

New cable TV company man disconnected my cable connection channels- had nothing I watched.
Baked corn pudding for tomorrow at David’s. Updated membership file.
Richard Myers in to buy a brick. [Illegible] too, who also brought 1915 double wedding ring quilt, linen parasol, 1927-29-30 Wuivers. etc. Tom Wagner in with his aluminum cast aluminum- neat stuff. Ordered $200 subject to Jack’s approval.
Stan Wink erecting cement block wall between Lobby and Auditorium on Lower level. Keith Kohler there cleaning up.
Tom has been asked by Anthony Corchel to write weekly history column. Tom didn’t want to interfere with mine. Told him go ahead Deb Martin gave me the go ahead.
Stopped at Mary’s to load desk and books to take to David’s. Ate at Fair Park Diner. $3.99 ham, sweet potatoes, dressing and coleslaw.
Willis called to wish Happy Thanksgiving but really to deplore inaction of Huber association. Took determination of fiscal year to Mark Bauer.
