Friday January 13th 1978 Mary and I had supper at new Sambo’s on Route 95 near bypass.
Slept late and in at 11:30. Worked on new price sheet for flowers. Each price arrangement includes container and makeup so it should give designer easier pricing.
Harry Garverick called and asked if I wanted to sell any of my rental properties, but said nothing about his offer yesterday!
Sue in- she went to Florida but Don had to go to jail because he broke parole because he didn’t tell parole officer he got married and moved to Marion. But he’s out now and she made the trip by bus! She will deliver tomorrow. When I got to Wood Valley road was blocked. Hunting boys who shot through a window of a car.

Thursday January 12th 1978
Karen called to invite us to a surprise birthday party for David at the new Meat Market.
Wrote letters to Edgar, Kathy and Kent. Kass called me to say Harry Garverick had been in and asked her and Cheryl Knapp if I would want to sell Hemmerly’s Flowers. He told them he had a buyer at $750,000. I think it’s a real estate come on. Kass a little upset as she and Pete are interested but not at that price!
Made meatloaf and dressing and Bing cherry salad for dinner. Cleaned a little as the Ericksons called to say they would be out to put up my new glass fire-screen. Got it for me from a Columbus friend $180 wholesale! Showed Rrita and Dawn old things while Eric put it up. Read Hemmerly papers to them.

Mary Jordan cooked dinner for Carl, Bernhard, Kenneth Hecker, Mary Rockwell and me. They have new dining table and chairs. Pot roast, potatoes, onions and carrots, biscuits, cherry and sugar cream pie. All left by 7:30.
Dave Woessner has decided to open a savings account and handle his own money. I wonder how he thinks he could run a business like hemmerly’s if he can’t handle his own finances!

7 inches of snow & 30 miles per hour winds chill factor 25 below zero. But got out of driveway okay. Laura snowed in so Dave in. He sent everyone home early and turned out $250 funeral work himself! Had also shoveled out the back area by garage!
Cheryl came in with checks and spent an hour with Dave trying to get him to discipline himself to save the raise. But he decided I should hold it out and give it to him in June in December!
Lillian and I to Mary’s for T-bone steaks that she had David bring up Christmas. Delicious. Then to Palace 0° icy streets- Thayer Soule on Japan- very good. All night at Mary’s.

Sunday January 8th 1978 temperature forty-five a.m. high winds and 10 at night.
Woke up with headache.
Picked Mary and mother up at 12:30 and headed for Patterson Cemetery. Wet snow not sticking all the way over and back. Rocky’s grave still had the flowers on it and hadn’t been filled in so we put the grave blanket by Uncle Roy’s marker and one wreath there and the other on Rocky’s mother’s grave.
Glad to get home by 3 as the snow really started coming down and by dark had 2 in.
TV & bed at 10.

Saturday January 7th 1978
Took crock pot of noodles in for Cheryl. Her grandfather’s funeral was at 10:30 & Kass went. I took wedding to LaRue. Widow with eight children married her husband’s brother. Stopped at Maggie’s on my way home. Just coming to the door left her gasping for 10 minutes.
Finished Conrad Richter’s “The trees”. Makes me feel as if I had lived Sayword’s life in early Ohio.
