Tuesday February 21st 1978 fog lifts trees white lace.
Tried to get loose ends tied up. Got Easter order ready and went over it with Dave. Cleared desk. Ordered pens, more Easter Dutch shoes. Worked on secretary report for the Historical Society bulletin and got letter off to Keise & Taylor about a new Marion County History. About 14 at board meeting. Not much business and over at 8:45 as everyone wanted to get home to see “The Awakening Land”. They spoiled it by having the mansion house in 1870 house instead of an 1830 house!

Leisurely day with David & family – Pancake breakfast. tried to walk down in the woods but couldn’t. Snow above knees even yet and when you break through the crust it throws you. Sarah had her little skis on and was real game down the little hill by the greenhouse. Played Boggle- good way to get mind off coal strikes and conserving electricity. Called Allen and Wilda giving them our arrival times.
David and I watched “The Trees” of Conrad Richter’s “The Awakening Land”. On TV story of first Ohio settlers.

To LaRue for 2:30 wedding and couldn’t get into church until 1:35. Then at 3:30 couldn’t get into Quinn Chapel for a 4:30 wedding. Had to climb over snowbank to unload.
Picked up house a little. David, Karen, Sarah & Joshua arrived about 11:30. Sarah so cute. Joshua cries if I just look at him. I guess because he looks like the Meisters he feels he has to dislike me like the Meisters do.

Filled about 1,300 Valentine’s orders. $13,000 value. Picked up our airline tickets- $286 for Mary and mother and $311 for me via Phoenix. Stopped at Race Motors to see how truck body repair was coming. Should be ready Saturday. Barry Baker in and says he’ll call Camera club members to tell them of place change. Woke with a headache. Back to bed until 11. In and routed. Quite a few orders that we couldn’t get out yesterday. Walked to Famous Recipe Chicken to get lunch and it really wore me out. Slept in my office from 1 to 4:30. Delivery East. 4 stops and home at 6.
Receipts yesterday $1,800 sales over $6,000. No wonder we’re all beat.
Called David when I heard about the gas explosion in Cincinnati he’s okay. Maybe up Sunday. Conducted a test on boiling water with and without a lid. Boils one minute sooner with lid. Sent me a cute valentine about it.
