Sunday March 26th 1978 Easter Sunday
Rainy miserable day. Woke with headache. Snow nearly gone except little patch by woodpile. Walked out while Howard dug lily of the valley pips and moved straw from beside Greenhouse. Daff foliage 10in high under it. Mary and mother out. Looked at slides of Arizona- Sedona part. Worked crossword puzzle and played music box records. Called Karen, but she was getting dinner for her folks and couldn’t talk. David playing at church. Had found some of Ray’s poems I wanted to read to him. The words of “These Things in Nature I Love Best” fit the music of The Rustic Dance.

Saturday March 25th 1978 coal strike ended after 16 weeks.
Jim Ermatinger called. Had cable from Edgar- baskets on way. Barry and Mike off on their first deliveries when I got there at 9. Sue didn’t show up had brother call at 11:30- had a cold! I picked her up. She delivered rest of the day. Shop crowded all day. Had three weddings. Laura & Tonya serviced. Cash register $5,700! Sales $4,200 with half of posting done. But everything went so smoothly Dave thought we were down in volume. Last day for Karen Porter to work. Sure good to have Connie working. She will work extra when needed. Home at 7 after 3 Roberts Road deliveries. Audubon Philippine trip that I wrote in the mail from Barb in Connecticut- 29 pages.

Everything went smoothly except wedding at First Nazarene was at 4 not 4:30 and Connie didn’t go until 3:30!
Served about 30 sloppy joes to a hungry crowd. I left at 8 and told them to quit at 9.

Heard killdeers.
Decided we needed more blooming plants and after checking found 75 more at Lakewood near Toledo so sent Barry up about 2:30. He was back at 6.
Excellent quality mums, cyclamen calceolarias, tulips.
Engel picked up 50 of the extra lilies. Nellie Kline wrapping plants in garage cold only 40 outdoors. I’m routing and Barry and Mike Martin delivering. Picked up Mary’s car to use for delivery. Shopped for food for employees tomorrow night. Got chicken for them tonight. Left shop at 7:30 and told them to work until 9. Had a flat tire. Barry changed it.

Dinner at Turroff’s with Jordans, Mary Rockwell, BBB and Kenneth Hecker. Bernard said Carroll hadn’t given okay for newsletter to be run.
Stopped at Wolohan’s to pick up sample of kitchen vinyl flooring that mother selected for her kitchen. Sent it and See’s Candy and tulip plant to her.

Sunday March 19th 1978 – Wood Ducks and Red Wings flew over.
Howard finished shoveling snow off blacktop on upper driveway. Had started yesterday on the big piles by the mailbox. Bill and Erma* to see the river and flood. Ice still jammed up down by sycamore in river. Later Paris and Helen out. Talked to Bill about putting a bay window in the kitchen and remodeling.
