Thursday August 3rd 1978
Fever broke during night so felt much better for our 6 a.m. departure. Down I-94 through Minnesota and Wisconsin. Beautiful country. Stop at motel in Janesville. Elnora Leyes out of town but talked to daughter who suggested we visit their new shop near the hospital. After cafeteria dinner at Bishop’s found Janesville a lovely town and Richard Leyes delightful. Rightfully proud of his shop which he showed in detail.

Not feeling well but picked up Walt, Olga and Janiece to go to Bonanzaville – original buildings moved to area west of Fargo. Each maintained by clubs, churches etc. Tour took nearly two hours. By the time we got back to Kathi’s I was really sick and went right to bed and missed good dinner Kathy fixed.

Tuesday August 1st 1978
Kathy, kids Mary and I to kinder Apartments where Mabel Roush apartment manager had invited Marge and Diane in to meet us.
Went shopping at Block 6, an old department store building redone into 50 shops. Lunched at China Doll on Chop Suey. Raining when we came out. Kathi fixed spaghetti for dinner and then we shopped at Target and West Acres for specials. Bob showed slides of all their trips and Kathy popped corn.

Sunday July 30th 1978 – Fargo, ND
K, M and I up at 5:30 and drove out Route 20 to see the sunrise over Devil’s Lake. Then drove back country roads, birding. Were they immature Dickcissel?
Back to motel about 8 and had huge pancakes at a truck stop. Up to Ft. Totten and toward buildings housing Museum & Wildlife exhibit which were former barracks and later and Indian School. Drove through Sally’s Hill Wildlife Refuge – saw deer and buffalo tormented by insects. Beautiful drive home Pelicans on lake near Wimbledon.
