Saturday, April 4, 1998
Mary’s 79th birthday. Gave her a wireless door bell & electric stapler.
Spent morning getting dinner ready for Haldemans – trip to Kroger for last minute stuff & got home just before Sarah & her Dave arrived about 12:30 – David, Karen & Susannah arrived from Cinci about 1:30 & about 2:00 Josh & Jed came in from Columbus – so great to have them all here.
David found time (about 15 min) & wrote a little program to turn my word processing index for Mitchell book (15 pp) into 2 column – 6 pg document that I can edit – quite a relief to have that done.
Supper was ham, sweet potatoes, cauliflower, tossed & bean salad and pumpkin pie & cake. Sarah & Dave couldn’t stay – Dave’s brother’s birthday party in Dayton – she brought her report card from Wright State – very good grades in all her music subjects.
We visited & visited – Haldemans left about 10 for Cincinnati – watched videos.
At 2:30 PM Kass Mattimore came out & we had Hemmerly shareholders meeting – she says Diane Zacharias is interested in purchasing Hemmerly’s Flowers & Gifts at some time in the future – she feels Diane & her husband could run it.

Thursday, April 2, 1998
Bob & Kathi at Mary’s all day. I got dinner for them & Bill & Erma Hutchman – Swiss steak – new potatoes – good visit catching up. Also watched video of Sands trip.

Wednesday, April 1, 1998
After breakfast we all headed for Mary’s to unload the Sands computers that they were bringing to Mary. Bob spent whole day & into evening getting set up.
I left at 12:30 to meet Creative Writing Class of OSUM at Claridon Prairie – Terry ?? (instructor) about 25 kids really responsive.
At prairie wind was so strong that we came to patio at Terradise to finalize session – Terry promised me copies of the essays the students write & I gave them 2 copies of “DBY”- 1 for classroom & 1 for library – Rich Bradley with the group.
Back to Mary’s & we took off for Applebee’s for dinner – Mary treat – I had barbecue ribs.
Back to Terradise – watched video of Kristi’s family.

Patty Foertsch over & cleaned house.
Kathi & Bob arrived about 7. (I missed MCHS Program meeting on butchering!) – So good to have them here but they are exhausted.

Monday, March 30, 1998
Dug up bed by side porch & planted oakleaf lettuce seed from Opal Clutter.
Took leaves off hydrangeas – there are lots of buds so hope they bloom this year.
Planted up daisies, columbine & chrysanthemums for Plant Sale.
Worked on Mitchell book & Howard showed up about 3:00 – showed him changes I had made & he OK’d them. He then read items to me from chart to complete index.
E-mail from Kathi – Lvg Wright’s this morning & will be at Beal’s near St. Louis tonight & here tomorrow evening.
Call from Rich Bradley asking me to meet OSUM poetry class at Claridon Prairie at 1:00 Wed.

Sunday – planted daffs. Donnie dug up to plant yucca in bed by lilac hedge – planted yucca sprouts for Plant Sale.
Mary out. Worked on index of Mitchell book. Called David – Harvey is in hospital – shingles & complications.

Saturday, March 28, 1998
Donnie Foertsch came about 8:45 – had called AAA towing & man here & charged battery – I had left overhead light on since Tues!
To Marion & stopped at Young’s – battery tested OK & alternator. To Mary Priors to pick up stout front desk – Walston gave me envelope of money to pay for secretary I sold him – Pd $180 – he gave me $200. When we got desk home found a tiny slip of paper in small drawer C. Janbroers – Thorbeckerstraat 59 Zanderwart-Terfoon (02507) 4815 Gen Gire J65 – I knew it was German! Mary had lived in Kaiserslautern for a couple of years. Donnie took plastic off greenhouse & brought deck furniture from shed – transplanted variegated celery plant, dug lily of valley & re-stacked bricks on pavement (off bed by lower driveway) $35.
In to HH – accessioned Bill Elliott pictures & topo maps – Eula Rhoads putting HH labels in all Resource Center Books – helped me make a list of C. Meyers Harding items from magazines that were in a Hollinger box. Willis Thomas in. His drawings for his Marion Co Indian books are great – Talked him into taking Bob Sands & me to new Bunker Hill development on a mound on Maple Grove Rd. Took Wendy’s supper to Mary’s. Grocery shopped Kroger.

Friday, March 27, 1998
Howard Mitchell over & OK’d new format for descendants – spent rest of day getting pages in order to make corrections. Call from Walstoms wanting to pick up China Cabinet at Mary Pryor’s tonight – I said I’d come over & they could load my desk – but battery was dead so I couldn’t go. Kathi called – they arrived at Kristi’s about 2:30 OK city time.
Back to computer at 7:00 PM. Spring Beauties & miniature daffs blooming.
