Saturday, July 4, 1953
Up & temps & I varnished 3 bedroom floors at Acres – home 1:30? Trella & I dug rest of Irises that matter at 954 (to fence to back & lots) & took ’em Acres – Rockwells, Hemmerly’s brought gals ‘o food & we4 ate – & planted Irises! Trella & I stuck till 9:454, looking inside house. Kids with Harold & Mary to Harpster for fireworks.

Friday, July 3, 1953
Cooler – nice; but feel lousy – headache all pm and evening. Paris & Trella & kids filled floors all day, bedrooms! Ireland here about house – $10,500 his offer. Trella & I to Shaffstall’s picking linoleum tonite, & to Sears, etc.

Thursday, July 2, 1953
Hot too- showers noon & cooler. We worked on 552 kitchen cabinets all evening- Ray Hemmerly & I. Cat nap after work. Argued over selling Westwood to Irelan- she wants to cut price. Paris started temp evening job at PO.

Wednesday, July 1, 1953
($148.34) Hot day; bath at noon, cooler eve; we dug final lot of new 954 seedlings; & other stuff & plantled 7/8 row Hartford St. garden; made flying trip to farm & cleaned 2 bedrooms for sanders. Kids Drive-in, Harold & Mary.

Tuesday, June 30, 1953
Hotter 97? Day off. Haircut, we uptowned, talked dishwasher, hunted dope on cistern; shopped carpet and drapes. PM to here; talked Jim Weaver deciding things; washed some baseboards & shopped tile at Neff’s, way home. Tonite to MAISH’S- Ray Hemmerly too, seeing Greenhouse (like ours) & garden. Cooler now.

Monday, June 29, 1953
Hot & humid. Some though worst of heat wave; I minded it badly, about sick before noon & evening. Ray Hemmerly tore out 552 sink & dishwasher- sold (Barb Bingham); Trella & I bought Ryan sink to replace- $15. I went Acres buggin’ moths; she did weddings tonite. Acres has more bedrooms trimmed out; homasote underlayment almost done in living room.

Sunday, June 28, 1953
Loafed am. Trella worked shop some pm, took off for Acres, cleaned floors (they’re trimming out last 2 bedrooms & have front door hung) & mopped up basement some. (Later rain, finally) Paris & Helen & Margaret Anne out & other. Home 8:45.

Saturday, June 27, 1953
Hot- half sick again. Over cate, mostly. To reunion (Trella’s class [of 1933] tonite, at Hotel [Harding]. Trella new dress & hat, & prettiest girl there. Bernard, Rosina & Marvin Browns (with whom we went) to here for after. Bed late.

Friday, June 26, 1953
Sick most of day- head, etc. Dinner tonite at Hemmerly’s- Trella ate & ran to wedding. Ireland may buy 954 for himself. We seem to have acquired a kitten…

Thursday, June 25, 1953
Hot again. Home early at noon- both! Well-driller gave up at 85 ft. We went out with Bill ‘n Erma tonite & looked & Shaffstall measured for linoleum. Home & Trella to talk; kids to Drive-In with Harold & Mary. I pomed & disconnected hot plate to sell.
