Sunday, August 23, 1953
Trella & I tiffed over going to Akron, after I got all ready. Put up basement shelves a.m. P.m we built kids 1/2 a clubhouse west. Uncle Allen Sheneman (Calif) etc. here, & others. Hutchman’s finished off evening.

Saturday, August 22, 1953
87 at noon. Helped Ray Hemmerly take bed-suite to 229, etc & load out here. Rocky helping unload it. Rocky & Mary for supper. I showered & to bed 9:30. Kids back home again.

Friday, August 21, 1953
[Trella writing] I write in the diary so Ray can get out a poetry batch to McLeans- first ones out of new house. I made slip cover for stool to match green chinesey [sic] one on chairs. Ray brought more seedling iris from Westwood. I went in at 8 to work on a wedding. Norma Jean Baker there in car.

Thursday, August 20, 1953
Nice day again. Poohed, tho. We planted some things Rocky’d given us. Then to Marion for Trella’s wedding appointments & Rocky & I brought a load in truck. I stopped here; & Trella & Kathy along later.

Wednesday, August 19, 1953
Swell day! Kids to lake, grandfolks. My day off & we planted Iris, cut trees, weeds (used power for 2 jobs) – hung up hooks, burned trees & brush, etc.

Tuesday, August 18, 1953
Cool. 48 a.m. After work (Trella spent p.m. running errands, driving herself) we went Westwood & dug more Irises- mostly seedlings. Home near dark, put waterlily in “pond”*. Hemmerly’s & kids out for fast visit- they’re staying in overnight.

[*This pond was the outlet for the culvert under the road]

Monday, August 17, 1953
($148.34) Cool & nice. Trella drove us in after supper, 1st time since accident! I worked Irises at Hartford Street, Trella sold wedding. Albers after. Hemmerly’s got new Ford!

Sunday, August 16, 1953
Cleaned & partially straightened basement a.m. P.m., all to Romine Reunion at Lincoln Park & Sandy wouldn’t, on short notice. Ray Hemmerly, Rocky & Mary here for supper & got TV aerial up. Uncle Jule stopped too.

Saturday, August 15, 1953
BACK TO WORK – Pooey. And tonite, we dubbed cleaning at back-trees, brush. And fixed at shower room too. Bed 10:30.

Friday, August 14, 1953
Hot. Worked mt’g screen door, basement work & “Rez-zing” kitche & hall woodwork. To Marion p.m. – Kathy to eye Dr.’s & Trella & I hunting groceries, wallpaper, bathroom mirror cut down. Dad ‘n Fetter fished. Dubbed tonite.
