Hot – too – 96-?? Stood it well, tho, after work hauled (thanks, Paris & Dad) 2 screen doors home on the Chevy top, & tonite cut one down, re-mortissing it! Trella ironed & went bed 9 with headache.

Tuesday, September 1, 1953
($148.34) 98 or 99 degrees. Home noon, took shower! After work, gave up on Dr. Morgan. Trella & I uptown, got order (rods & stools) Sears, shopped screen, drape etc. Stopped 552, finally home & ate, & dubbed stools (glued) working curtain rod up in living room.

Hot, terrific- knocked me loose; Uncle Meck, Aunt Gert, Uncle Allen*, Hemmerly’s here for supper. Left at 8.

Hotter. Trella did wedding- taking kids in early- back around 4. I dubbed Shack all day, getting it fairly den-ish by evening! We dubbed washin’ windows, electric extensions & drops in basement, water 12 gallon jug, etc.

Hotter? Trella did Hughes wedding today- Mary helping- first she’s really done since 7/23. Tonite we planted more things, trimmed weeds etc. till dark; Rocky couldn’t grade – too tough, & Paris papered hall & kitchen – wonderful!!

Friday, August 28, 1953
Hot. Tonite, finished Iris digging at 954. Got Trella at Hotel (She’d talked garden club), & stopped for Kathy at 229; supper here & planted Irises. I flubbed basement; Harold & Mary here to tell us grader tomorrow; lunched with us.

Thursday, August 27, 1953
Day off. We, after sleepin’ late, washed a few windows, then cleaned closets, then really did basement a good turn! In tonite, visited Dad (& Bakers there too) & got kids, after seeing, briefly, Fair.

Trella & I took Sandra Jean to Palace. Lunched L&K after. Sandra Jean looked so pretty.

Don & Agnes (& family) Shuster here for supper & niote. Pictures, etc. All of family (Hemmerly) here too.

Hot. Half sick, & spots late. I called in & let ’em carry Forest Street! We (after I napped) ate hearty supper & hung 1st drapery rods, etc. Trella’s folks here.
