Hot again. Lotsa mags, no help. Nap; we poured rest of greenhouse stop! & after supper I painted over desk, shelves, butterfly cases, etc. Trella to town – wedding appointment.

Hot again. Home for lunch had help. Trella not here, tho made talk p.m. Tonite, I cleaned car windows – cleaned up – after supper Trella & I to Palace – “Mogambo” – kids to Mary’s.

Hot. 86 degrees I heard. Home after carrying trip, for lunch. Discouraged. Bill Hutchman, Mary & Harold here for dinner, allo evlening after. I cartooned (Ahrens), pome, etc.

Still perfect weather. Ate Mary’s with Trella, lunch. She had errands- we signed deed to 552 to Hemmerly’s at Carhart’s. Headaches after work. Mine better; Trella still “on” bedtime. She & Mary to Burroughs; I got Sandy, & we went visiting to Dad’s & Cora’s- nice evening.

Perfect weather. We worked all day on lawn to East of drive, and on path to “down” steps to river, etc. Bill Hutchman here p.m., Kitlingers, Hemmerly’s brought Deysons, brief stay. Trella cleaned kitchen tonite; I wrote Sandra Jean & drew Ahrens 1st “rough”.

Up late (2nd time) & plowed section east of drive & to Oak tree; disced it. Paris out p.m. & we nub-hunted (Ray awhile too) & he fished. Margaret Anne, Helen & Umps [sic?] had supper over campfire outside – fun. ($150.62) (1 hr overtime) check gotten 10/19.

Long weekend. Worked like dogs, Ray Hemmerly helping hugely- raking, discing, seeding most of lawn! And built flight step[s down toward river- sawing up logs for shoring. Trella ironed yet tonite; I helped David set up the train, then pomed.

Downright warm- we put peat on “lawn” we’ve done, & watered, & harrowed & raked out front of house till supper- poohed, cleaned up & loafed evening. Till Hemmerly’s & Rockwells & Gretchen* – came out – pictures, etc.

Swell again. Tonite, we got 1st lawn seed in!! Made attic trips after dark, pomed some.
