Mother’s Day.
Picked Mary up at 8:15 & I drove to Cinci – David prepared breakfast – only Karen & Susannah there and Mary & I. Piled into Honda & headed for Rowe Arboretum in Indiana Hill area – interesting collection & beautiful setting. To Memorial Hall (shift to Music Hall & restored to 1908 splendor in 1995) for “Sounds of Sousa” concert – David playing & featured in Dixieland selections. Marcus Neiman of Medina recreates Sousa – met Paul Bierley – Sousa historian & bought his books – also Paul Walker – prairie buff friends & Bob Harter – also France June [sic Joan] Poetker – Cinci florist & David’s “surrogate mom” – Joyce VanWye.
