Sunday, May 17, 1981 Temp 72 Sunny until 4:30 then 50 cloudy.24 bird species at Terradise – Swamp Sparrow a new one – Prothonotary Warbler, Cape May & Tennessee Warblers. Red squirell raided robin’s nest in lilacs but babies escaped. Watched 7 ducklings on woods pool & pond. Transplanted seedlings – set out lobelia. Moved more things into chalet. At 4 picked up mother & took back roads to Patterson Cemetery. Set out red geraniums, white petunias & ageratum. [On Mary Hemmerly’s first husband Harold Rockwell grave]

Stopped at Loren Bakers for rhubarb. Showed me his new 100 HP Diesel Massey-Ferguson tractor. Tires as tall as my head.
