Trella Hemmerly – 1979-11-03

Saturday November 3rd 1979 [64th birthday]
Everyone should have the Royal Treatment I had when they have a birthday. So good to feel loved as my friends made me feel. After the 11:30 Skok-Greenwood wedding the shop gang unveiled my cake “The Marion County 1979 History”. So cute I couldn’t bear to cut it before going to the “tasting tea” at the First Presbyterian Church as Erma Hutchman’s guest. 40 dishes on the menu and the cookbook containing all the recipes. Then went on a shopping spree and bought black shoes $28, a rust suede dress $38, a rust coat, zip-out lining $99 and 4 chains. On sale Monday so the clerk gave me the sale price of 2 for $5.55. Took mother some carnations and the cake book and left some for her and Roger. He sure is getting that place cleaned up. David called and he bought a Canon AE-1 with 1.4 lens and a 70-215 Vivitar Zoom. Jordans and Hecker’s picked me up at 5 to go to the Pioneer Mill Restaurant in Tiffin for dinner. Carl got stopped for speeding in Sycamore but nice cop didn’t ticket him. Delicious dinner with a birthday cake for me. Home about 9 watched “McArthur” on TV and I’m still stuffed.
Shop people gave me a Krementz rose stick pin, Mary & Kenny, Allen Eckert’s “Wilderness War”, Mary & Carl popcorn and pecans.
