Dr. Jones took us out in his canoe to see several rare ferns – crested spleenwort – Goldis fern – silvery gladefern. Had a look at the backroom & had just given the Romines up when they arrived. Listened to a geology discussion between Arthur Harper & Dr. White. Harper identified some specimens I brought from Virginia in Britton & Brown. Ray, Mary & I went on a hike in afternoon to Mary’s second plot. I chased butterfiles but got a terrific headache. Back at barracks I had a nap & felt better. Others went swimming. Stayed until after supper. Stopped to see Bake at Waynesburg for about 1/2 hr. Wally got lost trying to take a short cut.
