Big event of day was my canoe trip with David & family from Bridge at Rt 746 to Roberts Rd. bridge – I even paddled. River just right level so made trip in 45 min. Karen did the ferrying. Wieners – beans & carrots for lunch.
Took boys to KMart to buy a Keystone Easy Shot Camera but they didn’t have it. Got film for them & gave each of the $50 for their trip to France on October 17.

Finished visiting the Ashtabula Co. bridges after a quick stop at the beach at Ashtabula. Picked up flat stones. Met Karl & ? Buck at one of the bridges – photographer from Cincinnati. Then into Columbiana Co. where they have replaced covered bridges with concrete ones & let others decay. Bought melons on the square at Lisbon – found they were from Baker Farm. Sent note with sales boy – on chance they might be related.
Home by 5 & cooked short ribs barbeque style & apple sauced & broccoli. Haldeman family arrived about 8:00. Sarah ushered at OSU – Ill game & David & boys canoed on Oledntangy.
Call from kathi on answering machine with nice comments about Terradise Landscaping.

Gorgeous Sunny Day 75
Mary picked me up about 9:00 & we headed to Judy Rockwell’s at Norton (Barberton area) She is 80 but perky as ever. To lunch at an ice cream parlor in Norton. Left about 1 & headed for Ashtabula Co. to seek out their 14 covered bridges. All in excellent condition. Visited 10 – photographed them. – But now they are a jumble in my mind.
All night at Travelodge at Austinsberg – Rt 11 & 45. Not many motels in area & fisherman at one of the bridges didn’t recommend ones in Ashtabula – no AAA ones listed.
Supper in room out of the little cooler & to bed early.

TO OAHSM Board Meeting at Dublin Stouffer – Stopped at Augenstein’s Deli in Waldo for a $2.50 roast beef sandwich instead of taking the $12.50 lunch from the hotel!
Since I’m not on any committees this year it seems a waste of time for me to attend. I sat in on Reg affairs & awards. Good to see jane Truckis & Barbara Shephard. Meeting Friday night with Barb $59 – Staff toured us thru facilities we will use for meeting on Nov. 2 & 3.
On way home stopped at Wilson’s & bought 5 pumpkins for $7 – stopped at Turner’s fruit farm & picked 1 qt red raspberries $3.00 – Stopped at Augensteins again & got cheese & slaw for supper.

Tater Ault here & chewed up the locust stump by the burning bins. Left big high pile of mixed dirt & sawdust. Brought me 3 huge onions that might have beat out Ed Young at the Fall Fair. Says his bill will be $125 – 4 trees & about 6 shrubs & the hemlock stumps dug by hand.

Sowed grass seed across road. Tall fescue – “Rebel” – also fertilized.
