Friday, July 26, 1991
MCHS 3 hrs.
To Mary Brocklesby’s to pick up books for MCHS – mostly school books.
Nice tour of her house – many modifications since 1840! Then to HH to see John Hickson to locate Wilbert Snyder’s record of gifts (tools moslty) and to locate them. Couldn’t find them, but documentation ok.
Napped. Mary J & H picked me up for trip to Al’s for supper.

Thursday, July 25, 1991
Unpacked – Watered.
Called Dave – no reconciliation. Dee called the cops to make Dave leave Lee’s where she is staying. He did.
All started because she started smoking & drinking again. then she wants to join Coast Guard reserve – Dave opposed because of restraints on her time & not much pay. Or she wants to join Police Force. He feels with her limited mental ability she would never be more than file clerk.

Wednesday, July 24, 1991
Up early to leave at 7:00.
David & boys met us 7 had snack at McDonalds. Sure enjoyed being with Sarah for a week.

Tuesday, July 23, 1991
Memorable Day – Finally got back to Yosemite – from the deer near Avalanche Lodge – the first view of Half Dome * the valley – the lack of traffic in the valley (to Bob’s chagrin) the flowers & domes at Olmstead Point – Tanaya Lake & Tioga Pass. Spent all day going the 60 miles. Mono Lake still going down – back in Reno about 7:00.

7:15 Woke up at Best Western Gateway to Yosemite Motel

8:00 Bfst near by – 1 egg & toast for me – coffee

9:00 Lvg – N via Rt 41

9:40 S. Entrance Yosemite Natl Park $5 fee
VIews of El Capitan & Half Dome
Into Valley along Merced River – Rt. 120 to Tioga Rd. SIesta Lake – Visit White WOlf – Overnight here in 1949
Wildflower & visitor stops – mule deer, golden marmot

1:30 Lunch along Mt. steam
Olmstead vista – Domes – penstemmon, Ind. Paint Brusgh
Snack after lvg Park – pie and soup.
Sedum, cinquefoil.
Mt. Tioga & Mono Craters views.
Road down curvy but Kathi photo with camcorder.
Bob collecting rocks.!

5:30 Rt. 385N to Reno – Mono Lake – Topaz Lake near home – on to Costco – Pick up film – Airport for Bob paycheck.

8:30 Home – sunset

8:45 Call from Dave – Dee went to Lee’s house & called cops to ask Dave to leave when he went to get her.

9:00 To Bev and Don’s to see house – lovely

12:00 To sleep.

Monday, July 22, 1991
All of us to Castle Air Force Base – really hot there. Kristi took Sarah around but I stayed in her room. On through the foot hills – russet – and stayed at nice motel with pool & interesting plantings.
Ate at Chinese Restaurant. Not too good.

Sunday, July 21, 1991
Friends just back from Alaska tour came to report.
Then Donovan Martinez came to visit Kathi*. Had been in Reed High School ROTC together. He’s a senior Midshipman at Naval Academy.
Kristi back to CAB – but I didn’t think it a good idea for Sarah to go with her.

7:00 Woke up & bkfst on  Patio with Bob
8:30 To Stead airfield (where Reno Air Races are held) for Bi wing flights for Sarah & Bob. Kristi home baking 8 doz cookies.
9:00 Sarah & Peter Fourman in Great Lakes plane 20 min rid over Peavine & toward Reno. Sarah took controls to make a turn.

9:45 Bob up for his acrobatic ride. Watched Army plane discharge parachutists. Bopth thrilled with flights.
12:00 To Skyline road for Bfst. Called Kristi & she joined us. . Donavan Martinez  in town form Naval Academy & called & came over. Kristi’s ROTC friend while in high school.
4:00 Pat & ___ back from Alaskan cruise over to exchange memories with Kathi & Bob.
4:30 Kristi left for Castle AFB
6:00 Steaks on grill – Dinner on patio – So pleasant. Kathi & Bob, Sarah and me.
8:00 Called David for OK for Sarah to go tomorrow (might have been Sat. night for airplane rides.)

Saturday, July 20, 1991
Bob, Kathi, Sarah & I to Stead Airport where Sarah took a ride in a Great Lakes open cockpit bi-plane. Pilot let her fly it & she hardly came back to earth. Then Bob took the stunt flight. But plane too far from airport for us to see it.

Friday, July 19, 1991
[Kathi’s 50th birthday]
Up early – before sunrise to leave for Gardinersville – 3 Balloons ready to inflate in park. Getting into basket wasn’t as difficult as I thought & rising up as high as the Sierras was a thrill – Only a peek at Lake Tahoe then came down a lot. Good pilot who ranches nearby. Landed at Minden arirport right on target between other 2 balloons. Sarah & Kristi helped pack the envelope & then in van back to Park for Champagne breakfast – Tradition from first French flights.
To Reno Wildlife Park along Truckee – Ducks, birds.

Thursday, July 18, 1991
Up at 7:00 to the WMRN telling of the request to Exhume Pres. Harding’s body to check out rumor that he was murdered by The Duchess – Florence Kling Harding. Request by author – a play to sell more books on Mrs. Harding – his project – Used my 15th bag of mulch.
Watered copiously. Washed clothes, packed, called Ralph Boger & Martha Neville to alert to my being gone. Mary & Geneva picked me up, lvg home at 2:45. At Pt Cols at 3:50 & David, Karen & Susannah* arrived at 3:55. Continental 833 departing at 4:50 (4:40 scheduled) – 2 hr 44 min to Denver 30,000 ft. Short walk to connecting flight. Kathi met us-
Kristi arrived from Castle Air Force Base.

[* does she mean Sarah? She was going to Reno with her, not Susannah.]
