Jim Carpenter at Resourcer Center helped me inventory the maps & plats the Willis Thomas salvaged from Floyd Browne Associates when they moved to Stratford, Oh – used Excel & got about 30 done – that many more to do.
Ed Stitt in again researching Marion’s filling stations.
Just got home when Dave Matyak arrived with his air compressor. Pumped up the golf cart tire on left rear – but pointed out a slit in it.
I loaded Prius with recyclables – getting 43 mpg now. Have nearly 450 miles on it – and IT ALWAYS STARTS.

The Peace Lily plant that David gave me (rescued from Mt. Washington Cemetery) has 6 white spadix blooms – fills corner by TV room closet sitting on fern stand tht daddy made about 1914.

Downloaded contract from Marion Landscaping & signed contract for lawn remake adding ‘clean stone walkway’ – will send $1,000 check.
12 emails – Bob able to go out to eat first time in several months – has lost 10 pounds.
Jed responded to a ‘virus alert’ with ‘when can we come up’ Told him Monday.
To Marioon at 1:30 to pick up ‘Arrangement of the Month’ – 3 roses – faking calla lily & some daisies – stuffed in a vase.
Shopped at Meijet $42 – got frozen chicken breasts – boned.

Reading: Allen LAcy 1986 ‘Farther Afield’
Delightful gardening book of his visits to gardens – Costa Rica – Shaw Botanical – Fairchild Tropical – mentions books I have – must re-read them.

David says (email) ramp by greenhouse should be continuation of gravel – (Brick not suitable for ramp)
From 12:00 until 4:30 at computer for MCHS – write up minutes of Feb 17 & sent to Jan, gale & Bede – also sent Jan & Gale my suggestions for program meetings topics – & to Jan the openings for committee chairmen.

Left message for Ohio Landscaping Service to call me – they didn’t
Cleaned up the steps by the garage door – hundreds of hemlock cones – When David Matyak arrived about 2:30 he finished cleaning the iris & yucca & daffodil bed along wall by driveway – filled the red cart 3 times – leaves to compost & junk across road at back of lot – Dave found 3 praying mantis cases – Put them under the Star Magnolia. Then he finished clearing the front bed & pruned the clematis Jackmanii. Sure looks better – I used tractor to knock down prairie plants & mowed high.

Re-reading Tony Horwitz A Voyage Long & Strange – from David H for C’mas.

Sent emails to Bobbie – Cress & Jackye & Leon inviting them to Terradise – anytime during April 15- May 15.

To HH at 9:00 to meet Angela Dutcher to research marion Star for references to depression of 1930’s – Found interesting parallels to present recession. History repetition.
Home by 12:00 – at computer getting ready for tonight’s MCHS Board Meeting & stdy of collections management policy at 6:00
Emails from Marion Landscaping with contracts – But I’m not ready to sign – emailed David H for advice – $1800 to redo steps to reiver with RR ties. Took pictures and downloaded but couldn’t access them – stupid me1
To HH at 6:00 – Randy winland big help on reviewing Collections Management Policy to give director oversight instead of committee.
Nancy Gracely in Australia (She didn’t provide Feb Board minutes) so I took minutes.
Call from Karen Kelley – check for $7,000 rec’d from Dreyfuss Acct – she took check to Marion Community Foundation to be added to the Terradise Nature Preserve Fund.

Sharon of Marion Landscaping & associate here at 4:45 to give estimate to redo lawn around pergola to shed & from driveway – $2,000 + tax! – Also looked at steps to river – seemed to baffle them. Took photos on my camera that I will email to them.
Dave Hempstead – a voice from the past – stopped when he waw me working at cleaning entry area – spend all morning & hauled 3 cart loads to compost pile & burning pile & one to still unload (ran out of pep)
Dave Hempstead offered to remove the large tree blocking river – and to help Marion Co. Park District at TNPreserve. He has in river behind his house mergansers, wood ducks – Turkey – Deer – Removed 208 raccoons in last year – They feed corn & that attracts them.
Gale brought Chinese food for supper – Gave her the small hand vacuum to use at H Hall – helped me finish tree list – Too the donor form for over $250 required by law. Linda Condry & Mary Donaldson at archives office today learning Past Perfect – Such a change from Lynda Williams & her sloppy entries.

Cleaned lower part of bathroom closet! Who needs 4 bottles of window cleaner – when I have Carpet Plus clean them? Found a small vacuum cleaner I didn’t remember.
Compile list of about 35 trees & shrubs species across river at TNP – Sent to Karen Kelley to forward to Harry Condry.
Sent email to David about having upper lawn made over by professional & a ramp instead of steps by greenhouse – He wants to build it.

To Heritage Hall about 11:00 to resource Center – Made invoice for MCHS Publications in gift shop now and added books to bring most titles up to 3 copies. With 20% discount the inventory is now over 800 – due the Publications Fund – Keith Kohler has locked up the former dark room so I couldn’t get the 5 copies of Jim Thorpe & Oorang Indians billed to gift shop.
Jim Carpenter in – copied the 40th Anniversary pictures to my flash drive. Probably too late for Marion Star to use.
Stitt in to do research & he pulled out the bound copies of Marion Star for Angela Dutcher to research Tues.
Got to Terradise Nature Preserve about 4:00 – Too late to see the cleanup crew.

Email from Josh about Cinci St. Patrick Day parade tomorrow – 14 or so DeLoreans will participate in tribute to being manufactured in Northern Ireland.
Angela Dutcher – OSUM student of Dr. Moran who sent regards – She has assignment on how 1930’s depression affected Marion – Told mine – No college – Daddy had 30% pay reduction at Bindley Wholesale Grocery. Will meet her Tues at 9:15 to see bound Star – 1930 & 1941.
Did a study of committee structures current – obsolete – responsibility. Sent to Jan & Gale.
TV problems – Bottom of screen blocked with black box – Lost all my digital stations trying to fix it.

Royce cleaning – including glass cage of shells.
To County Office Building for Marion Co. Parks meeting – Tom Bostic helped me in & Dick Cooper going out! – Contract signed for environmental survey – Gary ___ sat by me & his company gave ½ of cost. He knew me & enjoyed the 40th Anniversary articles. Also contract for landscaping of Education Center off Holland Rd. work day at Terradise Sat.
To H Hall – Jerri made 5 copies of collections management policy for committee study – Gale gave me permission to bill museum shop for MCHS published books instead of consigning them that was impossible to track.
She had a run-in with Keith Kohler about the Sports Exhibit – Not up long enough – lack of publicity.
The Old Blockhouse Marker won’t have his help to erect!
