Ray worked all day trying to get automatic vent assembled. Finally found motor shaft was frozen and couldn’t work. Called Dick Davidson and he will bring another.
Donny, Dave and I worked on area south of beech deck. Got railroad ties in to hold bank. Can’t believe how they can move those heavy ties.

Royce here cleaning but didn’t have time to work inside.

Called Dr. Charles King, head of Ohio biological survey and the Clutters* can go on the Prairie tour in Madison County Saturday.

Ray and Donny worked until noon and then Danny came. Ray finished all of the carpentry work including gate and steps at East End of beech deck. Dave dug out area for bigger brick walk at foot of porch steps and Donnie laid brick. Had to trade Belden Brick from here and there in other walks to get enough.

Dave fertilized lawn under oak tree and front of house and mowed. He sold his Penthouse magazines to Donny for $15! Says he found a stack of them down in the woods, got some from Chris and bought some. Sure glad to get them out of the house.

Corn from garden again. So tired I drove the car over to pick it up. Fried trout and just carrying it to deck to eat when Donna Ruth and Norm Fogt came to go over agenda for board meeting until 20th. Here until dark. Julie of Local History called about awards notification letters. I [illegible]

Rainy day so Ray and Donnie got cement blocks set in greenhouse and benches back in. I hosed them down and pushed gravel off brickwalk and washed it. Was 15 minutes late for Garden Forum but Mildred Barrow had told them no Harvest Festival at mall so we decided to push calendar. Order 100 instead of 50 and make a dollar and a half on each.

To shop but couldn’t help Kass on the BDOS error on her black book disk. Sending it to David for Disk Doctor. To PK and brought round red table for deck. Paid them $402 for lumber and got 10 packs seeds at five cents instead of regular price of $0.55.

Corn from garden for supper. Dave has scavenged enough lumber then he now has a roof on his shack.
