Prepared corn casserole & honey mustard pork chops & cranberry sauce & cheese plate for supper with Gale – She gave some suggestions for scholarship OSUM & talked about Lynda Wm’s effectiveness.
Cleaned out the front of desk – discarded Meijer sales slips Wrote checks for Ohio Genealogy Society dues ($32) & Marion Area GS ($8) – $2,000 for Pride contribution (+$3,000 given earlier) – $250 to Trinity Baptist Church and $100 to Ohio Environmental Council & $50 to other charities about $200.
Gale also told me Jack Trester broke hip & is at “Partnering” – Recently saw transfer of their Vine Street house for $140,000.

Snow started about 4:00 PM
Called Jed’s cell phone since no response to my e-mail asking his plans to come to Terradise today – he said no – coming Wed evening. I feel like the low man on the totem pole.
Loafed – worked crossword puzzles & computer solitaire. Supper of left over pork & sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, green salad & some of Karen’s cookies & fruitcake.
Kathi called – told her of Jed’s visit Wed – and Karen & I cooking together in the kitchen – and of Josh’s gift I don’t need – and that I don’t want to visit Kristi because I never receive any recognition of the gift of money I send.

E-mail from Kathy – OK to the THR/HWH OSUM Endowment fund with a lot of good comments.
Karen brought her egg casserole ready to heat in the oven for breakfast – With bagels & cream cheese – I supplied juices & coffee.
Sarah, Dave & Thad came about 11:00 – rolled Thad’s wheelchair up the ramp & I had built for Mary. While eating breakfast Ed Granger came for a visit (I think he thought I would be alone & need company – was he surprised!) But David, Ed & I had a great reminisce – showed Ed where he signed the Terradise Carol book in 1989.
Family opened gift envelopes with $50 for each of them – told them why it was cash – David got $300 – says he’ll buy an iPod. Susannah spent all her time here working hers.
David & Karen want to give me 6 months of “Life Line” – I would wear it all the time to alert 911 if I need help.
Sarah & Dave brought me a poinsettia, tin of chocolates & red poinsettias. Josh gave me service for 12 of stainless steel table service – I showed him my drawers full! But at my birthday party he thought I didn’t have enough for us! I hate to be a wet blanket – Karen helped cook the sauerkraut & pork & David helped microwave some mashed potatoes & I made a green salad. [???] and 7 kinds of cookies was dessert.
David unplugged battery backup from wall – no more buzzing. They left about 4:30 taking the 3 large dogs that made life miserable for Chessie – I put him & his food in the attic stairway for his safety – as I write he’s asleep on my lap.

Prepared C’mas gifts of money for Haldemans – $300 to David & $50 to all others.
Unloaded recycling box from Prius. To Reece’s for pork loin and sauerkraut for Sat dinner.

Battery backup for computer buzzing but when Dave Claborn stopped by with OSU contract he stopped it. I request the scholarship be called the Howard House THR but Dave insisted “Trella HR” be first.
To Marion at 4:00 to unload recyclables at Sims – shop at Meijer – and to WMRN by 6:00 for “Scott Spears 2nd Annual Christmas Show” – Charlie Evers – Mary Ann Michaels, a 19 year old singer, George Kasotis & me – Scott had “celebrity” call in – I wasn’t very clear about my carol sings – Dick fit with the questions he asked – Home by 7:30.
*Dave C will make corrections & e-mail to me to e-mail to Kathi – I want my kids OK before committing to this.

Jim C here from 1:15 to 2:45 – Cleared the drive of snow – loaded recyclables into Prius – moved potted plants from greenhouse to utility room – opened hide-a-bed in rec room & vacuumed it – turned mattress – and the usual chores –
Gale & Elana & Devon came at 4:45 with Chinese food – gave Gale my jade & gold pin – Elana counted my angels – 72 (I think she missed a couple!) –
Call from Kathi – had received Xmas letter & check –
PBS story of Vizcaya – Deering Estate in Miami – I remember it from when we lived in Fla in 1926-27 – the hurricane damaged the gardens & statuary given to City of Miami in 1953 by Deering neices.

Slept until 10:30 – fed birds twice – read Sunday Star – Reported “OK” to David & Kathi AM & PM – Opened Sat mail – Xmas cards from Deb Alspach & Ranny & Gloria Williams – I had not sent them my Xmas letter.

To Resource Center from 1:00 to 3:30 – Jim C helped me inventory books in museum shop – no need to add more except to reprint of “After 40 Years” – Invoiced it to museum shop. When I carried recycling bags to garage along with my purse I left it under the bags so I had to go back home & pick it up – 10 minutes in & 10 minutes back!
Shopped at Aldi’s – bought lots of holiday treats – whole cashews & sugared nuts – clam chowder – cranberry sauce – but no grapes available – $62.
Lawrence Welk Christmas show – beautiful clothes – band and all the songs we sang from 1938 until recently – tonight David & Karen carry on the tradition in Cincinnati.

Sat at desk all day until 4:00 to finish my mailing of Christmas letters – about 90 – mailed at PO so I could have right postage for the 2 to Ireland – Debbie & Eamon Ryan’s daughter & Keith & Helen Lamb. The mice in cabinets & drawers finished off a box of poison in one night. I emptied silverware drawer & cleaned it & washed all the items stored there. Still have the lower cupboards to do.
