Oh what a mess. I didn’t have enough material! Bernard Brooks came early but had to leave – so of course Elwyn came- Mary was here. When I found I didn’t have material enough, I thot [sic] maybe Bernard could help but he wan’t home. Daddy finally got an ad from Bindley’s to fill it up.
I bought the sweetest brown tweed jersey dress with that $3. After school. White stuff for collar.

Wednesday November 9 1932
Roosevelt will be our next prs, C’est Bien. Dommage. I left the Herald office & found I locked myself out. Wrote a couple of stories 8th period. All the material is in- Tried to study but between times, I ate some carmel crisp dad made- Typing is getting me down.

Tuesday November 8 1932
Mary came down for supper & Helen came down afterwards. And then about 7:30 this Clarence M. person came popping in- wanted me to go to the show I gues. Hard to get rid of. We kids wanted some dance music but I turned the dial & got “Dem- ballot- Roos. Electorial” at 10:30 Roosevelt was way ahead.

Monday November 7 1932
Very little Herald material in. Oh Dear. After school went to Library Council meeting & skipped cab meet. And just got home in time to go to Int. Guild meeting at Vietta Johnstons. Delivered 6 kids, came home, tried to study & am now very sleepy.

Sunday November 6 1932
Got up just in time for S.S. Stayed for church- Communion. For once I decided to stay home on Sun aft. Worked on my collar & then typed for 2 hrs without doing anything. Bernard Brooks must think he owes me something all the attention I get. Armistice Day program at church. Pretty soldier angel, mother grave tableau.

Saturday November 5 1932
About 7 girls went to Erma Prettyman’s to make sandwitches [sic] & punch for the dance to night. While running around after punch bowls, boxes, fruit, etc. I found $3 in the middle of the street. Galion game at the Fairground & the sure victory turned out that Galion won 14-7- So we’ll prob. Have cellar position in the league. Bernard Brooks came after me about 7:45 we went with Helen & Thom. Coons. Danced with Bernard all evening. We all went down to Mary’s afterward & I stayed all night.

Friday November 4 1932
Bill put out this year’s best Herald today. Helen, Mary H & B & I went to the Band Benefit Concert at the Palace in evening. “The All-Americans” The new band uniforms are surely classy. Elwyn came & sat by mary so she went home with him. I took Helen home & all she did was run people down. Got pattern & pique for collars after school.

Thursday November 3 1932
17 – Breakfasted at Wood’s & so to school. Gave Herald assignment. I talked my French in class what [illegible]. At noon mother had all my favorite dishes & chocolate cake. She gave me a dollar, Mary- some hankies & a box of candy. Pauline gave me a hankie too. Especially good G.R. meeting after school. At Bindley’s watched them put up an order & walked [shorthand] dad. Nicest B.Y. & U. Party [shorthand] afterwards Jim, Bernard Brooks, E. Hachter [?], Mary & Helen came up & we ate & talked. The girls stayed all night.

Wednesday November 2 1932
Cleaned our typewriter took off ribbon, scrubbed keys & made ourselves dirtier than the typers had been. I washed my hair at Mary’s & she waved it.
Helen asked me to her house for supper. Irene Ziegler there too. Helen fixed the nicest eat, all pretty with low lights for my birthday. Gave me a green sucker. Get it? At 12 I sat up in bed & said “I’m 17!”
