Slept until 1:00. Vivid dreams of Kathi & me trying to find a curtain shop on city streets that all looked alike.
Got busy making things for MCHS Bazaar. Ended up with herb & evergreen baskets, “How many Days ‘Til Christmas” (25 foxtail grass heads tied with raffia & ribbon with verses for children to count the days til Cmas)
Door badges, arranging kits – total value $50. Enjoyed it but exhausted.
Mary brought the 2 Delaware chairs the 23 Antiques refinished & caned $32 each. They are from Trinity. Grew up sitting on them.
Made top for my Baszaar items using WordStar italic courier 12.
Watched TV – Bush spent Thanksgiving with troops in Saudi Arabia – Today in Cairo & met Syrian Pres in Geneva. Trying to assure support of Arab world against Iraq for invading Kuwait – Challenger – Full House – Baghdad Cafe – Strangers – OSU BNand show rerun.
To bed at 10:30 after reading Ohio Magazine & working crossword puzzle in the Star.

½” rain
Slept until 9:30. Updated Huber membership files & rewrote letters to non-renewals & to membership about Lincoln Mercury bldg. Took results to Dr. Mauk when I went in to pick Mary up to go to Gala of Trees at Coliseum. Hemmerly’s 12’ tree was the centerpiece – Peaches & Cream theme.
All trees gorgeous but needed more illumination in addition to tree lights. Looked like Marion Steel got stuck with purchasing half of them.
Took Thanksgiving dinner left overs to mary – She baked another pumpkin pie & then rest of the scalloped corn & we had a feast. First Thanksgiving dinner at Mary’s since Mother died. Just the 2 of us.
Still feeling lousy. Don’t know whether its the flu shot or depression.
Called Kristi at Kathi’s to congratulate her on being named Airman of the Month. She gets use of 1991 Mustang for a month – a 5 day trip for 2 to LA hotel & $200 – BX coupons, etc. She was really pleased.
Dave called to wish happy Thanksgiving. Friends for Turkey cooked 1 ½ hrs! Condo closing tomorrow.

38/65 Partly Sunny
Eula woke me at 8:00 after a sleepless night – only profit from it was a epitaph for Jack – “Stonewall Jack”. That’s what he did to the board. Eula apologized for not speaking up – but “knew it wouldn’t do any good- They were all primed against our plan to save the lobby – Told her it really hurt that no one spoke up to support my stand.
Looked at Norm’s records & studied SBT Manual opn General Ledger. But just couldn’t work on them. Just sat most of the day licking my wounds. Did water all the new plantings & watched Crocodile Dundee on TV.
Mary called on answering machine to tell me Kristi was selected Airman of the Month for Catlle [sic?] Air Force Base. Too down to talk to her.
Helen called to check on me & suggested we should take our cause to the membership.

2 hrs MCHS
Spent most of day sorting papers & organizing notebooks for MCHS. Updated Virginia Howard & Wayne Fowler to alert them to reluctant approval of Lobby plans by Ohio Historic Preservation Office.
In at 4:00 for shampoo, cut & blow dry. Met Mary at Turoff’s at 5:00 for sauerkraut & sausage supper. To Heritage hall about 6 & reformatted disks on SRC XT so I can use them here & there both.
Jack too affable before meeting but he really snowballed all his spending project thro & had Tom Wagner & Dick West primed to vote down any delay on walls & holes in the lobby. I protested, asking that gate be used for security & entry to Atrium thru Gift Shop. It was just as if I hadn’t said anything. No support from any of the Exec Committee or those I had talked to. I was stunned.
Jack (through West) asked for no strings on any expenditures up to $500 – Gary Sims moved he be allowed $6,000 a year – at least that sets a limit.
At close of meeting everyone cleared out immediately leaving me along in the room. Why should it take 78 hours for labor for electricians in women’s restroom? & why suddenly are the costs $10,000 instead of $6,000.
Couldn’t sleep – worked crossword puzzles and read.

6 hrs
Worked on Standing Rules – Cosmetic mostly. Mary out about 4:00 because of Big Fire at Adams & Barnhart – chemicals exploded.
At Huber Assoc meeting the board voted on a feasibility study of the Lincoln Mercury bldg – although for some reason Dr. Mauk couldn’t bring himself to call it that. He passed a sheet with Huber Family – Board – Members – Community – others on it & asked board to fill in what we might expect each group to contribute. From comments it seems this board has no intention of giving any more than anyone else.
Talked to Mauk & John Watkins about my plan for the loffy rather than walls & holes plan reluctantly approved by OHPO.

Leisurely prepared stuffing, sweet potatoes, relish plate, cranberry sauce, gravy. Cleaned up Daddy;s old electric roaster. Must be 55 years old – Put turkey in but it wouldn’t heat so put inner pan in oven. Mary out about 1:00 & peeled potatoes & apples for me – So everything was under way when Haldemans arrived about 2:00 – David wanted to put up a new swing. The limb on the sycamore broke off this summer. Got 50’ rope at Depot Sales & couldn’t find a good limb down in the woods so put in on the white oak in the middle of the upper lawn. Susannah loved it. Dinner about 5. Davie had installed SBT Acctg system on my computer & gave me a lesson on it. He makes it look so easy – Jed’s descriptions on his well-organized photos of France included all the details the guides gave. Josh not so organized & still can’t speak coherently.

Made list of Huber family members from EHMA database for Harry Mauk – also printed list of all members of board & wrote letter from Harry to send to members about Lincoln Mercury bldg – and to expired members – 50 of them! Finished Exec Comm minutes from tape.
In about 2:00 to tek material from Local History Office on Exec Director agreement to Hal Boncutter & Exec Board minutes to Helen Kaufman. Bought fresh turkey at Kroger’s – @ 1.29 lb instead of frozen at 39 cents lb. Hope it’s good.
Guy Denny called & said presentation could be whenever I want it – so thinking of spring – maybe Garden Open Garden.
To Al’s Restuarant for dinner with Mary H & Mary J. We all had fried cube steak.
Tore loaf of bread into cubes for dressing tomorrow.

In at 10:00 for physical examination. Dr. Lowe didn’t even take my blood pressure until I asked him to. Whole exam including taking a pap smear took less that 20 min.
Referred me to Dr. Winder for hearing evaluation. Stopped at shop & bank – Bought $2,500 EE US Bond – D3* – beneficiary. Took pre-Christmas Open House 25th video. To HH & used that computer to write Exec. Comm. minutes. Called David to invite them to Thanksgiving dinner this Sat. night & then take in the Open House on Sunday. Wants turkey and the works.
Call from Eula – says need to call board members to get support from paint walls only in lobby in view of letter from OHPO.
Call from Harry Mauk – wants list of Huber Family members to study for donations to purchase Lincoln Mercury property.
A mobile house appeared next to my lots across the road near the barn.
