50 high midnight
Had talk with Howard. Showed him the value chart that bank prepared for his 73 US Bonds – value is almost $173,000 – of this $110,000 is interest. He again said several times that he wants me to have a considerable part- mentioned $100,000. I suggested a living trust administered by BancOne – would list bonds to go to each of MCHS, Kirkpatrick United Methodist Church & Salvation Army. Also list ones to go to me. Called Wayne Crum at bank & he will have trust officer come to house to make it out.-
Finished Howard’s 1989 tax return. His taxes are about $700 to pay. He paid $1,000 estimated.
Mary Louise Smith Harper called – wants to work at Heritage Hall- Set her up for Thursday AM – Jack called about meeting with Nancy Nowlin, writer for script for Rotary Production of history of Marion.
To Al’s in Cardington for dinner with Mary & Jordans.
sent membership application to Garden Club of Marion – Invitation extended by Dave Metzger.

12:00-6:00 Book 6 hrs.
27-41 Sunny windy
Took Howard to BancOhio in Caledonia to put his arbonds in a safety deposit box – #742 key in my safe in Rec Room. Since he wanted me to have access to his funds he transferred $75,000 from his checking account @ 5.45 to a money market fund at 6.5%. Found my name could be added to his bonds by sending them to Federal Reserve. But decided not to do that now. Wayne Crum figured value of 73 bonds at $173,000- Suggested a living trust naming charities as beneficiaries of certain bonds. Said contact Howard’s atty – Parsell.
Cleaned out garage of bags of papers & took across road to burn but it was too windy.
Started actual text of Marion Bok. worked on landforms & Founding Document chapters. Reinstalled Quicken 3 & learned to use footnote command 7QN! Ran Newsletter through Quicken, Research in Randall & Ryan “Ohio History” – “Geological Survey of Ohio” & “Marion Centenary Celebration”. 1922 Publication has much good info.

Looks like there will be a United Germany. Official dismantling of Berlin Wall by govt – near Brandenburg Gate.
