Grass Fire! Finally persuaded Howard to burn all the bags of newspapers. He had his basement full. Didn’t count on wind & dryness & it burned about 2 acres of grass across the road. I fought it for 1/2 hr, dipping water out of Trailer Park Lake & my pool. Finally called 911 & fire dept was here in 5 min. They were returning from another grass fire.
Exhausted from carrying water. Had to call Hutchman’s & cancel dinner invitation tonight.
Ran hose across road & let it run too long – so no water.
Called Mary & she brought out some water. Thankful for that but I needed a hug too.

Royce here to clean & I didn’t get much else done. Everything piled up in my room.

In at 9:00 to meet Al Tozer at Hughes Photo Studio. John Rall had brought out packages of envelopes of negatives – filed by clients – fantastic 8×10 negatives. John suggested we take envelopes to sort through – Al & I will meet at his house next Monday to work on them. To HH to fill out mailing form for Hallmarks – Asked Jack to mail them so I could pick Mary up at 10:30 to go to Forest for lunch at Jessie Baker’s – Jeanette Bunnell, Martha Cramer (Jessie’s daughter) & woman from Kenton – then to Jeanette’s house (barn!) in country. But she sparks my interest – loft & antiques – Planned trip to her woods for wildflowers on April 30. Jessie went with us to visit Fanny. She is so frail – had a hernia operation – recovering but hard for her to walk.
Napped 1/2 hr at Mary’s – Then to Harding to judge botany entries for Science Fair. 2nd round – 5 entries to judge. Gave top to geotropism if put on seeds of re-oreintation. Then to Nature Club – Charlie Evers on Alaska. Well done interpretive content. Invited club to Terradise for May 1 meeting. Shopped at Big Bear for supper for tomorrow.

3 hrs – Newsletter & book (didn’t count travel time)ack to David’s & met Maxim from The Ukraine. Chubby, pleasant, polite & the English he uses is without an accent. Watched part of Kathi’s Video on trip home from Alaska.
David had shown my way from Walnut Hills to UC – YMCA on way to printers so I could take in both “Bye Bye Birdie” & David’s “Fleeting Moments” orchesta & dance. But Sarah didn’t mention my going to BBY (she’s in chorus) so I skipped the hassle & let David do the driving.
Sat in balcony in Tudor style ballroom at Pearson’s* (trumpet) suggestion so could get full view & dancer’s in 20’s & 30’s clothes for “Alexander’s Ragtime Ball”. David’s trombone great & he did take off on Cab Calloway – Over at 12 & we picked Sarah up at cast party at fancy home.
