S.S.
My gym suit was too little for me & it fit Tody so she took it.

Saturday September 13 1930
Mary & I went up town & picked a sute out. Mary also looked at dresses. In the aft. Mother & we went back up. She didn’t like it at first but I got it. Saw Floy & Fanny up town. Got my new green romper gym suit & hose & came home. Mary went home with Floys & Bob, too.

Friday September 12 1930
Dismissal for the Fair. I put my stand up in the early P.M. & made lots. Tody came over & Pauling & we went to the fair. Big crowds. Could have sold lots more ice cream candy. Stayed up pretty late. Took in $1`0. I made $4 profit. Gave $.90 to Mary.

Thursday September 11 1930
School. Then sold candy after school.. Business pretty good. One girl wanted change for quarter. I only had 20 cents change but told her I could give her candy for the other. She accepted it. Daddy fixed me a good light. Then a canteloupe man came up & used it too. Mean, wasn’t it?

Wednesday September 10 1930
After school found Mary Baker here. Sure glad & surprized to see her.
Put my Fair Stand out for the first time. Did a little but not much business.

[Trella Note 1993: The “Fair Stand” became a yearly event until I went to Columbus to work in 1934. – At that time street cards still ran along Fairground St. and people waited at our corner to board. We bough “ice cream candy” (flat bars of taffy) from a Burkepile who for years made it & sold at fairs.
We used the profits to buy school clothes.]

Tuesday September 9 1930
When, after school I got home, I found a package from Mrs. Alline. Stockings, a hankie & some Kleenex. Wasn’t that sweet of her. I surely appreciated it.

[Trella note 1993: Mrs. Alline was neighbor north of us when we lived on Prospect St. from 1919-1921.]

Monday September 8 1930
School. Terrible rush in upper hall to find home rooms. Mine is Mr. Huffman. Geom 1st period. Good to see the kids again. Had to go all day.
Gemo, Study, Latin, Study
Noon.
History, Study, Eng, Study
Etc. for 9 months.

Sunday September 7 1930
Scott and Nora took our card to go to a reunion so we stayed home all but going to S.S. When they were here in the evening Bob Shuster came. He had come after the renuion, too. He’s going on out to Floy’s when he gets a chance.
